SelectionManager Component

  • New dedicated class for managing item selection state
  • Separation of Concerns: Selection logic isolated from UI code

  • Single Responsibility: Only handles selection state and calculations

UI Utilities Module

  • Extracted common formatting functions (format_size, format_count)
  • Reusable across different components
  • Consistent formatting throughout the application

Code Organization

  • Extracted large methods into smaller, focused helpers
  • Reduced MainWindow complexity (1594 → 1580 lines)

The UI now adapts to what you're doing:

  • Dashboard → Shows "Scan System" button
  • Category pages → Shows "Clean Selected" button with smart badge
  • Empty categories → Displays beautiful "All Clean!" message

🔘 Smart Selection Badges

Managing selections is now more intuitive:

  • Click to toggle all items in a category
  • Hover feedback shows available action
  • Real-time counting of selected items and size
  • Color-coded states: Green (all selected), Blue (partial selection)

✨ Beautiful Empty States

When a category has no items to clean:

  • Large sparkle emoji (✨)
  • "All Clean!" congratulations message
  • Centered, elegant layout
  • Headers automatically hide

🔒 Privilege Requirements

Some operations require administrator privileges:

  • Package Manager Cache (APT/DNF/Pacman) - Files in /var/cache/
  • System Logs - Files in /var/log/

Echo Cleaner will automatically prompt for your password using pkexec when needed. Items requiring privileges are marked with a 🔒 icon.
