LazyBrain 3.0 helps Codex find local capabilities without making a router part of every task. Known native tools and Skills are used directly; LazyBrain is for unresolved local discovery, source comparisons, and catalog audits.

  • Two read-only MCP tools return bounded candidates with source paths, project/platform scope, and clear discovery evidence. Configuration or cache presence is not reported as current-task callability.
  • Chinese creative-work lookups, identity preservation, disabled/listed audits, standard YAML/TOML metadata, and bounded traversal replace generic built-in-first routing.
  • Ordinary queries do not write history or graphs. Explicit adoption reports remain separate from actual execution. Automatic hooks, injected workflows, invented savings, and default visualization payloads are retired.
  • The package includes its MCP runtime with no runtime dependencies. Existing hooks remain inert compatibility shims. Built-in recipes are available only through the explicit demo command.
  • The old development branches are preserved in main’s history, without bringing their retired implementations back.

Validation: 203 tests, type check/build, public-package audit, independent review and fix verification, offline tarball CLI/MCP smoke, and Node 18/20/22/24 CI. Codex CLI 0.153.4, requested gpt-6-astra/max, exercised lookup-and-use, direct use of a known entry, and an ordinary question; the latter two bypassed LazyBrain. A fresh Codex app-server confirmed the installed 3.0.0 Skill and both MCP tools.

Breaking changes: MCP requests require an absolute cwd; recommendation schema is v2; automatic hook/rule orchestration is retired. Normal lookup does not migrate existing user data. See the bundled installation and maintenance notes for migration.
