DecompilerServer now returns compact MCP responses by default, resolves symbols more reliably, and reuses analysis indexes across queries.
Compact output
- Complete source is returned once in
data.code. Source, IL, and symbol responses omit redundant fields while preserving source provenance, structured errors, and navigation IDs. - Extended response metadata remains available through the user startup setting
DECOMPILER_RESPONSE_MODE=extended. - Batch source defaults to 50 lines per member and returns
hasMoreandnextStartLinefor continuation. Batch and source-slice line coordinates now agree. - Compact context listings show resident contexts and a registered-alias count. Request
includeRegistered: trueto browse registered aliases with paging and filtering.
Correctness and navigation
- Parameter-qualified symbol lookup selects the requested overload. Ambiguous names return candidates instead of silently choosing a method.
- Source and IL inspection validate the defining assembly before reading metadata tokens. Dependency failures provide loading hints, and unknown assembly IDs no longer fall back to an unrelated context.
- Structural comparison detects qualified type changes, modifiers, property/event accessors, generic constraints, and parameter defaults.
- Canonical IDs use the defining module's MVID. Synthetic zero-token members are excluded from discovery; generated members and accessors remain available through
includeCompilerGenerated: true. - Multi-context batches release each context after copying its result, allowing batches larger than the resident-context limit.
- Metadata outlines include navigable member IDs, events, and explicit pagination. IL operands distinguish arguments from locals.
Analysis performance
- Search services persist per session. Symbol summaries, reverse-reference indexes, and literal inventories are reused across queries.
- Callers and usages can search resident contexts with
scope: "workspace"; results identify the searched contexts and distinguish assembly versions and overloads. Callees link to exact members in other loaded contexts. - Expensive caches use bounded LRU retention and share concurrent computations. Oversized results are returned without being retained. Diagnostics include retained-cache estimates and dependency image sizes.
- Updated MCP instructions and the bundled skill guide agents through discovery, ambiguity, dependency recovery, and pagination.
Updating
Restart or reconnect your MCP client after replacing the executable to refresh its process and tool schemas. Scripts consuming compact source responses should read data.code; the extended startup setting retains legacy response fields. Inspect batch continuation fields and request registered aliases explicitly when needed.
All 238 Release tests pass locally, with additional checks against a freshly launched installed MCP server.
