** STILL NOT FULLY TESTED **

First UMi 17 OnStepX firmware release.

  • Adjust config to UMi17
  • Improve electronic homing functionality
  • Write position only if the position is changed
  • Option to increase delay between writes(only via firmware changes, defaults to 1 second)
  • Auto tracking + Electronic homing auxiliary / OnStep command protocol
  • PEC FUNCTIONALITY REMOVED FOR MORE E-HOME EEPROM STORAGE

Default settings:

  • Auto tracking = OFF
  • Electronic homing = ON
  • Preferred pier side = BEST(changes are now saved to EEPROM so need to change only once)
  • Sync command can no longer change pier side and now defaults to OFF for more safety

E-home:
In the original e-home version the wear leveling had 2 main flaws:

  1. It always wrote to memory even if the position didn't change, which matters when trying to minimize write counts.
  2. The wear leveling was spread across some of the eeprom ,but the index position was static, since the eeprom have 1m writes per index, that means this index can withstand around 280 hours according to specs(could vary). With an average of 8 hours per session, that means around 35 sessions.

The e-home changes solves both of these, along with more eeprom memory, which increases that to around 11 years.
It's also possible to increase the intervals between each write via firmware, e.g - 10 seconds intervals instead of 1 second will increase it by 10, so 110 years, which is just too much and not really needed.

I personally don't use PEC, so I opted to use these extra 720 bytes for e-home instead, anyone can change it according to their own preferences.

I repeat:

** STILL NOT FULLY TESTED **
