Twiddle 0.3

Twiddle v0.3 adds more ways to control your audio, refreshed Settings, and an interactive disco mode.

• Choose which apps get filtered and which apps automatically apply your preset when they play audio. Playback automation releases after a short silence instead of waiting for an app to close its audio stream.
• Refreshed General and Auto-apply settings, with app icon grids, drag-and-drop app selection, and clearer microphone and shortcut controls.
• Accessibility status and a direct System Settings link for the ⌥F10–F12 shortcuts, with automatic listener recovery after access is granted.
• Pull the disco ball to cycle album, warm, cool, and rainbow colours; swipe with two fingers to change its spin. Progressive trackpad haptics, stronger lid reflections, and Spotify now-playing artwork complete the effect.
• A local CLI for users and agents: inspect status, set the filter or preset, apply/reset, toggle disco on/off, and open Settings. See the CLI guide for setup and JSON responses.
• Source reorganized into App, Audio, UI, and Tests modules.

Download the DMG, drag Twiddle into Applications, and open it. Requires Apple Silicon and macOS 26 or later. The app is Developer ID-signed; the DMG is notarized by Apple and stapled. Existing preferences are preserved.

Validation: release build self-tests cover audio filtering at 44.1/48 kHz, preset transitions, shortcut cleanup, CLI parsing and socket transport, disco motion, and album palette extraction. Bluetooth, multichannel devices, and physical shortcut delivery across different Macs still need broader testing.

Twiddle 0.2

Twiddle 0.2 brings microphone-aware filtering, including automatic presets for Wispr Flow or any app using the mic. It also adds Settings, configurable hold shortcuts, app selection, and lid-aware knob reflections.

Microphone detection observes active input streams, not speech; apps that keep their mic open while muted and virtual inputs can also activate it.

A little DJ filter for your Mac’s menu bar.

• A brushed-metal knob for low-pass and high-pass filtering, with trackpad haptics.
• Filter Spotify or all Mac audio.
• Hold Fn to use a preset; release to ease back. Double-click the knob to reset smoothly.

Requires Apple Silicon and macOS 26 or later.

Download Twiddle-0.1-arm64.dmg, open it, and drag Twiddle into Applications. The app is Developer ID-signed and Apple-notarized; the approval ticket is stapled to the DMG.

Allow system audio recording when prompted. To use Fn, enable Twiddle under System Settings → Privacy & Security → Input Monitoring, then reopen if prompted.

This is an early release. Start with built-in speakers or wired stereo headphones; Bluetooth and multichannel setups haven’t been validated. No audio is saved or uploaded.
