VL PDF 0.3.49 — the second document gets the controls reading needs
The second document gets the controls reading needs.
The pane that opens beside your document could be scrolled and nothing else:
no zoom, no page controls, and a press on it did nothing at all. It has the
main view's own controls now, rather than a second set beside them.
Swap sides — on the line that says the pane is for reading, because that
is the sentence it answers. The document you are reading comes to the front
and the one that was in front goes beside it.
The Hand works in it. Not a second Hand: choose it in the view bar, or
hold Space, and it drags either document. Zoomed past the pane's width it
drags sideways too.
Zoom out, the percentage, zoom in, Fit width — and Ctrl with the wheel.
The percentage is the page's printed size, the same figure the status bar
shows, so 100% means the same thing in both halves of the window.
Page back and forward, with a count.
Also in this release: Side by side is in the View menu, under "Layout and
view", next to Two pages — not only under More, which is where you look for a
tool rather than for a way of arranging the window.
Four faults found by running it rather than reading it
The zoom would have drawn the same picture at every setting: a stylesheet rule
took the pane's width whatever the zoom had computed.
"Which page" had two definitions eight lines apart — one measuring the middle
of the view, one the top — so page forward scrolled the pane and left the
number alone. The pane uses the same rule the main view does now.
Any redraw of the tab row — a rename, a save, a tab brought forward — threw
the second document back to page one.
And a check that read "97/97" through grep while its exit code said 1.
Testing. The pane had no tests of its own before this release; it has 43,
each verified by breaking the thing it guards. Seven presses were added to the
real-app smoke run, which is where three of the four faults above were found.
