Focus 1.1.29

What changed

• This is the first release that anyone can rebuild bit for bit. It was built from a clean checkout of this tag; a build of the same tag in F-Droid's build container gives exactly this APK. (1.1.25 was meant to be that release, but it was built in a working folder full of leftovers from earlier builds and came out with one class too many.)
• The app itself is the same as 1.1.25 and 1.1.22: the split clock, free software under the GPL (version 3 or later).

Focus 1.1.25

What changed

• Focus is now free software under the GNU General Public License, version 3 or later.
• The build is reproducible. The same source gives the same APK on macOS and on Linux, so anyone (F-Droid included) can check that this APK is exactly what the source code produces. Google's encrypted dependency list and the build plugin's version-control stamp are no longer inside the APK.
• Nothing changes in how the app looks or works since 1.1.22 (the split clock).

Focus 1.1.22

New

• A new clock. The circle is replaced by a split row: the time, date and battery on the left, one section on the right, and a single vertical line between them. No frame around it.
  • The right half shows your next two calendar events, or today's screen time. Long-press it to choose. Whatever is shown there is not repeated further down.
  • Tapping the clock still opens the app you chose; long-press still changes it.
  • Updating from 1.0 or 1.1 switches the old default ring to the new clock once. Prefer the ring, or plain text? Settings → Home screen → Style.
• Version numbers now count up with every build (this is build 22), so a newer download always installs over an older one.

Focus 1.1

New

• Drawer sort: "Sort" under the search bar orders the list A–Z, by most used or by most recent (last 7 days).
• Personal / Work tabs in the drawer when the phone has a work profile. Search looks through both.
• Swipe right on home opens the phone's web search. Swipe left is still the app drawer. Can be switched off in Settings → Gestures.
• Today's screen time in words under the clock: the total and its share of the day's 24 hours. Tap it for the hour-by-hour picture in the review. It replaces the 24-hour bar on the home screen.
• Work-profile apps carry a small drawn outline after their name instead of the word "work".
• Double tap to lock is on by default on fresh installs (it needs the Focus timer service).

Fixed

• "Focus Settings" could not be opened from an app list while Focus was the home app.
• The keyboard no longer pops up and drops again halfway through the swipe to the drawer; scrolling the list hides it.

Focus 1.0

Focus 1.0: the first public version, the same APK that how2me.me/focusapp served from 2026-09-19.

A text-only, black and white launcher for Android: a ring clock that shows the battery, up to five apps in words, two corner shortcuts, a searchable app list, daily limits that lock social apps and games, and a weekly review of where the time went. No internet permission, no account, no ads.

Known problem, fixed in 1.1: "Focus Settings" cannot be opened from an app list while Focus is the home app (long-press on the home screen works).
