  • Pause the music during a doorbell call. A new Pause music setting under Ringing pauses the kiosk's music, also a player it follows such as Sonos, and resumes it when the call screen closes. Choose At the ring to pause on the button press, or At Speaker or Answer to keep the music playing until you listen or talk. Opened by hand, it pauses once Speaker or Microphone is on. Only music that was playing is paused, and only what the plugin paused is resumed. Off by default.
  • Needs Kiosk Satellite 2026.10.41 or newer, which tells plugins whether music is playing. Update Kiosk Satellite first if you are on an older version.

  • Echo cancelling on more devices. Most Android devices only cancel the echo of their own speaker in Android's call mode. On an Amazon Fire tablet the door audio looped back into the microphone (#2). During a call the plugin now switches Android to call mode on the loudspeaker, and attaches Android's echo canceller to the microphone wherever the device has one. For the best echo cancelling, set Microphone to Voice communication.
  • Android call mode setting under Video and audio, on by default. Turn it off if sound or the microphone stops working in a call on your device.

  • Clean talk audio on more devices. The microphone is now opened at 16 kHz first, then 48 kHz, then 8 kHz. On an Amazon Echo Show a 48 kHz capture opens without error but delivers loud noise, so the door heard nothing intelligible (#1). The doorbell takes 8 kHz audio, so 16 kHz is the natural rate anyway.
  • Microphone sample rate setting under Video and audio. Automatic tries the rates above in order; pick a fixed rate if the door hears noise instead of your voice. The Logs show which source and rate a call used (microphone: live, …).

  • Landscape layout. On a landscape screen, the 4:3 picture fills the height, so the name and the call buttons used to cover a quarter to half of it. In landscape they now sit in a column on the right, and the picture fits uncovered beside it. On a low screen the buttons get a little smaller, so all three always fit. Portrait is unchanged. The layout follows the screen's shape, so a rotation rearranges it.

The landscape layout has been checked with to-scale layouts for common panel sizes, but not yet on a landscape device. Feedback from landscape panels is welcome: please open an issue with a photo if something looks off.

Improvements from the Community Plugins review. Thanks for the careful look.

  • End a call after: a new setting (5, 10 or 30 minutes, or Off; 10 minutes by default). Once you answer, turn on Speaker or open the viewer by hand, the call ends at this length, so a forgotten call does not keep the room on the line.
  • Wake word muted during a call: while the doorbell's sound plays or the microphone is on, the plugin mutes Kiosk Satellite's wake word, so the door cannot trigger the assistant. It unmutes it afterwards. A wake word you muted yourself stays muted, and if a call is cut off by a crash or an update, the next start brings the wake word back.
  • Hardening: everything the doorbell sends is size-limited (RTSP answers and header lines, video frames, push messages), and alarm XML with a DOCTYPE is refused, so a broken or hostile device on the network cannot take Kiosk Satellite down.

The plugin now also asks for host.read, to read the wake word's state.

  • Microphone: the plugin no longer switches microphone sources when the room is quiet. On Rockchip panels a quiet room reads as exact silence, which could make it give up on the only working source in the middle of a call. Automatic now takes the first source that opens (Camcorder first) and keeps it. A new Microphone setting picks a source by hand for panels where Automatic picks the wrong one.
  • A screenshot of the call screen in the README.

Names the oldest Kiosk Satellite release the plugin works on (2026.10.38), as Community Plugins requires. No changes to the plugin itself.

  • Closes by itself after an unanswered ring, with a countdown ring around Hang up
  • Check button on the settings page for the address, the login, video and talking
  • English and Dutch

Tested with a Reolink Video Doorbell PoE (firmware v3.0.0.6460) and an RK3576 Android 14 panel on Kiosk Satellite 2026.10.38. See the README for requirements and setup.
