No result on network connection with IC-705

Hi,

in version Android dev.1026 i can connect to the access point of my ic-705, with the stored credentials the connection works. TRXing and RECing works well, but when establishing the connection, there's no hint, that connection HAS established and i have to guess, if it works, e.g. by watching the waterfall.
Same thing, but with more trouble, is, when my android device loses the net-connection (WLAN) with the ic-705, then the waterfall freezes, but no message on lost net-connection.

So i'd like to have an info-box on connection or disconneting with the rig.

Confirmed, and fixed

The Icom network (WLAN) connector never reported its connection state to the UI. The USB and Bluetooth paths drive a CAT status chip (grey → amber "connecting" → green "connected" → red "error") and a liveness watchdog that catches a link that has silently died — but the WLAN path was never wired into either. So there was no connect confirmation, and a dropped Wi-Fi link just froze the waterfall with no message, exactly as you describe.

Fix (PR #775, targets dev)

• The CAT status chip now works for IC-705 WLAN: it goes amber while connecting, green once the rig accepts the login, and red/grey when the link drops — plus a connect/disconnect toast.
• The liveness watchdog now runs on the network path, so a Wi-Fi drop that produces no error (the "waterfall just freezes" case) is detected by the rig going quiet, and the chip turns red instead of silently freezing.
• Fixed a related bug where the app considered the rig "connected" the instant you tapped Login (even with the radio off).

Note: the disconnect detection reads the rig's frequency to probe liveness, which depends on the CI-V address fix in #753/PR #774 — so the two together give the full picture. If readback isn't available the watchdog stays quiet rather than showing a false disconnect.

Hi Patrick,
thanks for the connection indicator. It works, but it's not clear to me, how "clicking" on the connection button should work. If it's green and i click, then it disconnects. If it is disconnected and i click, then nothing happens. I would expect, that the connection menu pops up.
Sometimes the yellow light is fading and reappearing and fading and so on. And sometimes connection is showed as "no connection", but waterfall is still "falling" and callsigns are decoded.
So this seems a little buggy.
By the way: If connection gets lost, the trx button is still red and tries to transmit. I would expect, that losing connection results in stopping trxing.
