RAWmakase 0.4.6 brings Lightroom's Filename Template Editor to Export, so files can be named from their capture date, camera model and other metadata, and F now hides everything but the photo. Mask brush strokes now paint live and masks move by their pins, the Basic sliders step with Lightroom's . , = - keys, and .cube LUTs made for Adobe RGB or ProPhoto RGB import in their own colour space. A new Report an Issue… window collects a system report for bug reports, and a crash now leaves a log instead of closing the app silently. Canon EOS R8 Mark II photos render with correct colour, Canon CR3 and CRW, Minolta and Sigma photos get their capture dates, and Fujifilm lens corrections are framed as in Lightroom again.
New
- Hide everything but the photo with F.
Fhides the workspace bar, side panels, filmstrip and toolbars, so the photo fills the window. In the Library the grid fills it first, and a secondFopens the photo.Fagain or Escape brings everything back as it was. The window itself isn't resized or made full screen. (#502) - Filename Template Editor. Export ▸ Rename To ▸ Edit… opens Lightroom's editor: type a template or insert tokens for the file name, sequence numbers, capture date and time, camera make and model, lens, exposure, ISO, rating, title, caption and more, with an example for the first photo. Rename To also offers RAWmakase's own Date Time - Model, Date Time - Filename and Date - Sequence templates. Templates are kept in Lightroom's token form; tokens RAWmakase doesn't fill yet, such as Keywords or GPS, are kept and left out of the name, with a note. (#659)
- Step the Basic sliders from the keyboard, as in Lightroom. In Develop,
.and, select the next or previous Basic slider (or click its name), and=and-step it by Lightroom's amounts: Shift for a large step, Option (Alt) for a fine one. This works with the Basic panel folded or Crop or Masking open, and each press is one History step. (#660) - Import .cube LUTs made for Adobe RGB or ProPhoto RGB. Import .cube LUTs… in the Develop Profile menu, and Import LUTs… in Preferences ▸ Camera profiles, ask which colour space the LUTs expect before you choose them, as Camera Raw's Create Profile does. sRGB stays the default, and existing LUT looks are unchanged. The command line takes
rawmakase import-profiles --lut-space adobe-rgb|prophoto-rgb. (#673, #677) - Report an Issue… opens from the sidebar's bug icon, Preferences ▸ General, and the Help menu on macOS. It shows a system report (version, installation, operating system, GPU and display), copies it, and opens a new GitHub issue to paste it into. The report holds no paths, user names or file names.
rawmakase system-infoprints the same report from the command line. (#685) - A crash log. When RAWmakase hits an internal error, it writes a
crash.login its data folder (%LOCALAPPDATA%\RAWmakaseon Windows,~/Library/Application Support/RAWmakaseon macOS,~/.local/share/rawmakaseon Linux). On Windows, an error that ends the app now shows a message naming that log, instead of closing without a word. (#679, helps diagnose #623) - Canon EOS R8 Mark II support. Its CR3s opened green and flat, without white balance or a colour matrix. They now render with the camera's white balance and Adobe's colour data. (#653)
Improved
- Mask brush strokes paint live. The photo updates while you drag the brush, instead of only when you release it, and the red overlay turns on as you paint and stays until you press O. Each stroke is still one History step. (#656)
- Drag a mask's pin to move the mask, as in Lightroom: its brush strokes and gradients move together, in one History step. Hovering a pin, or the mask's row in the Masks panel, shows that mask's overlay. (#656)
- Pinned panels stay out of Solo Mode. A pinned Navigator or Histogram opens and closes on its own while Solo Mode is on, instead of being folded when another panel opens. (#674, #663)
- Return exports from the Export dialog, as in Lightroom, even from one of its text fields. (#655)
- Lumix G97, G95D, G99D and G99 II photos use Adobe's G99 profiles. Adobe Standard, Camera Standard, the Adobe looks and imported G99 profiles now apply to them, as Camera Raw applies them; before, these photos always rendered with RAWmakase Color. (#670, #664)
Fixed
- Canon CR3 and CRW, Minolta MRW and Sigma X3F photos get their capture time. Added from folders, they had no date in the Library, sorted as undated and exported as
undated-…. Photos already in a catalog are dated on the next start. (#665, #657) - Fujifilm lens corrections are framed as in Lightroom again. Since 0.4.5, Fujifilm photos whose distortion correction pulls the corners in were zoomed less than Lightroom zooms them; they now match Adobe's correction to within about a pixel on most tested bodies. (#651)
- The panel header's right-click menu fits its item instead of stretching far past it. (#674)
Upgrade notes
Fno longer toggles zoom fit;Zstill does.- Library previews are rebuilt once after updating, so the first visit to a large folder takes longer.
- Export settings saved by this release still load in 0.4.5 and earlier; an older release ignores the custom template.
Thanks to @Phlogi for the whole-window mode (#502), @NimaiMalle for adding the Canon EOS R8 Mark II (#653), @taigenetsudo-code for the Solo Mode report (#663), @Ricci36 for the Lumix G97 colour report (#664) and @RoadRangerX for reporting the Windows launch problem (#623).
