os9exec v4.0.0

First release since V3.39 in 2007. Runs on 64-bit hosts, and on 32-bit ones, big-endian and little-endian alike.

Published with the blessing of the original authors, Lukas Zeller and Beat Forster. The emulator is their work; everything since V3.39 is this fork's, as is any bug in it.

First public release of the macOS arm64 (Apple Silicon) port.

This is an early pre-release. Known bugs exist; see the README for details.

What this is

OS-9/68k emulator ported to macOS on Apple Silicon, replacing the original 68k trap mechanism with the UAE 68000 engine and fixing all 64-bit data-width bugs from the LP64 memory model.

Requirements

  • macOS 14+ on Apple Silicon
  • The four adapted OS-9 header files (Microware copyright — not included; supply from a licensed OS-9 system; see README)
  • An OS-9/68k disk image or binary tree to run

Binary

os9exec-arm64 — built with -O2 using Apple clang on macOS 15 arm64. No installer; chmod +x and run.
