What's New
Architecture-Driven Edge Case Testing - Ralph now automatically detects architectural patterns in project documentation and adds corresponding edge-case tests.
Features
Ralph scans your CLAUDE.md or README for these patterns:
| Pattern Detected | Test Added |
|---|---|
| offline sync / batch upload | Out-of-order event tests |
| idempotency / concurrent | Race condition tests |
| event-sourced / event handler | Missing dependency tests |
| retry / distributed | Partial failure tests |
How It Works
- After implementing happy-path tests
- Ralph scans project docs for pattern keywords
- If pattern found but edge-case test missing → adds it before completing story
- If no patterns found → completes normally (zero overhead)
Benefits
- ✅ Catches real-world bugs (race conditions, offline sync issues, missing dependencies)
- ✅ Zero overhead for simple CRUD apps (only activates when patterns detected)
- ✅ General-purpose (works for any project)
- ✅ Simple keyword matching (no complex logic)
Real-World Impact
This feature would have caught 3 P1 bugs in production event-sourcing code:
- Race condition on idempotency keys (entire batch failed)
- Stats regression from out-of-order events (offline sync)
- Data loss when events arrived before dependencies
