The Windows app at 0.8.1, and for the first time with an installer.

An installer a teacher can run

Until now the app was a zip, and the download page asked you to unblock it, check its SHA-256 in PowerShell, extract it, and keep the folder together — because the app's web files must sit next to the executable, and a folder dragged apart is a broken app.

SignsOfAI-Desktop-0.8.1-win-x64-Setup.exe does that for you:

  • Installs for you only, with no administrator rights — a managed school laptop does not need IT.
  • Adds Signs of AI Writing to the Start menu, and uninstalls from Settings → Apps like any other program.
  • English or Spanish setup, Windows 10 (1809) or newer, 64-bit.

It is not code-signed, and neither is the app inside it. Windows SmartScreen will say Windows protected your PC the first time: choose More info → Run anyway. An installer does not change that; only code signing would.

The zip is still published for anyone who would rather not run an installer. Both carry the same 488 files — the installer is smaller only because it compresses better.

Also in this build

A list of data is no longer a "rule of three". The tell is a rhetorical tricolon — "fast, simple, and powerful" — but the rule also fired on lists like "2324, 2425 and 2526" or "CD31, CD45 and CD56". Items with no lowercase letters are now read as data, in English and Spanish. It changes no published number.

Checking the files

Each file has a .sha256 beside it, built on a clean runner from this tag. In PowerShell: Get-FileHash <file>.
