FreeForGemPear — GPU miner for Pearl (PRL), pearlhash, with a 1% developer fee.
Full manual (English / Русский / 中文): MANUAL.md

What's new in 1.4.8

Three new options for the optional --auto-uv undervolt tuner:

  • --uv-min N: the offset the tuner starts from and never goes below. Default: the offset already set in HiveOS / the driver, or 120 if none. (Before, tuning always started at the card's current offset.)
  • --uv-step N: MHz per tuning step (default 15).
  • --uv-keep-last: after a failed step, keep the last good step instead of the default (last good step minus one step of margin).
  • These only affect --auto-uv; mining and the kernel are unchanged (v1pb-k8192, label 3616f6e6). Validated on an RTX 3070: --uv-min 150 started the search at +150 and stepped up by 15 MHz, restoring the card's own offset on exit.

Since 1.4.7

  • Per-device m on mixed-SM rigs. Until now a rig with different GPU models used one m (the default 47104) on every card, so cards that are not 46-SM carried a partial-wave "tail". Now each GPU uses the m matched to its own SM count (m = 128 * SM * r): the miner builds one job per SM group and each card mines its own. Measured gains from the right m (same kernel, same power): RTX 3070 (46 SM) stays at 47104; RTX 4070 Laptop (36 SM) uses 36864, about +4-8%; other non-46-SM Ampere/Ada cards (3060 Ti, 3070 Ti, 3080, 3090, 4070 Ti) likewise pick their own m. Validated live on a mixed 3070 + 4070 Ti rig: banner m per device [47104, 61440], both cards mine at their own m, the pool accepts shares, 0 rejected. On a homogeneous rig (e.g. all 3070) nothing changes: one shared job as before. FFGP_M still overrides with one m on every device.
  • Kernel unchanged (v1pb-k8192, label 3616f6e6).

Since 1.4.6

  • Larger default m: +0.38% hashrate at the same power. The default number of A-rows per attempt, m, is raised from 23552 to 47104. This amortizes the per-attempt prologue/epilogue over more row-blocks, with the same kernel. Measured on an RTX 3070 (1560/810 MHz, 135 W): kernel bench 70.30 → 70.57 TMAC/s (reproducible); self-test PASSED; a LuckyPool run accepted 8/8 shares, 0 rejected, ~70.57 TH/s. Cost: slightly more host RAM (m*k bytes of a_base per job) and a marginally larger Merkle tree per proof.
  • FFGP_M overrides m (a multiple of 128, in 1024..1048576). On a homogeneous rig the miner auto-picks m from the GPUs' SM count (m = 128 * SM * r): an RTX 3070 (46 SM) resolves to exactly 47104; mixed-SM rigs and any FFGP_M keep 47104. The +0.38% is measured on 46-SM (3070) cards; other SM counts use the same formula and every value is self-test-validated bit-exactly.
  • Kernel unchanged from 1.3.0–1.4.5 (v1pb-k8192, label 3616f6e6).
  • --auto-uv: saved undervolt results (uv.json) now record the m they were found at and are reused only when driver + kernel + m all match; changing m re-runs the undervolt check.

Since 1.4.5

  • Gzip proofs: fully per the Pearl stratum gzip spec. Proofs are compressed at the standard gzip level: ~3 KB instead of ~4.4 KB per share (the raw proof is ~200 KB, 97.5% one repeated byte, i.e. zero noise, as the spec asks). Jobs that arrive before the login reply now wait for it, so once a pool confirms "type":"v2" every proof is gzipped (before, the very first job could go uncompressed).
  • --password TEXT (default x): on Kryptex --password d=VALUE sets a custom share difficulty for big rigs (VALUE = hashrate H/s × seconds per share / 4294967296, default 2097152). Windows: PASSWORD in every .bat; HiveOS: Extra config arguments.

Since 1.4.4 — Kryptex users of 1.4.1–1.4.3: update

  • Pearl stratum gzip handshake ("type":"v2" in mining.authorize): without it Kryptex replied "accepted" but did not credit compressed proofs. Checked on Kryptex: shares credited (a user rig of 8× RTX 3070: 20 valid, 0 invalid).

Since 1.4.3

  • Worker names on Kryptex (prl1....WORKER login on pools other than LuckyPool); +NOCK is dropped with a note on pools without merge mining, so one wallet string works everywhere.

Since 1.4.2

  • NOCK merge mining on LuckyPool: wallet prl1...+YOUR_NOCK_ADDRESS, LuckyPool pays NOCK for the same work with no hashrate loss; Windows start.ps1 accepts it. The fee slot on LuckyPool merge-mines NOCK for the developer (fee time unchanged, 1%).

Since 1.4.1

  • gzip-compressed proofs by default: about 4.4 KB instead of ~270 KB per share; automatic fallback to uncompressed proofs if a pool refuses them. FFGP_PROOF_GZIP=on|off.
  • Kryptex checked: prl-eu.kryptex.network:7048 (also prl, prl-us, prl-br, prl-sg, prl-hk, prl-ru, prl-ae), plain TCP.
  • Windows start files for every pool: start-luckypool-eu/ru/us/asia.bat, start-kryptex-eu/ru/us/asia.bat. WALLET is preset to the developer's example address — replace it with yours.

Since 1.4.0

  • --auto-uv — undervolt auto-tuner (optional). Once per GPU the miner finds the lowest safe core voltage (V/F offset) at the clock you locked, keeps it while mining and restores your own settings on exit, on Ctrl+C/SIGTERM and after a crash. Same hashrate, fewer watts.
    • Every 15 MHz step is checked bit-exactly on the GPU and verified on the CPU: near the limit cards produce silent wrong results without any Xid error, and these lose valid shares.
    • The result is saved per GPU (UUID + driver + kernel), re-checked every 6 h; a CPU-check failure or a reject burst steps back 15 MHz.
    • Only GPUs the miner is mining on are touched (matched by PCI bus id). Needs root (HiveOS runs miners as root) / Administrator.
    • Also: --uv-offset N (fixed offset after a check), --uv-reset, --uv-max, --auto-uv-dry-run.
    • RTX 3070 @1560 MHz, ~70 TH/s at every offset: +150 → ~116 W, +195 → ~110 W, +210 → ~107 W. On our test card the check found silent errors from +225 upward, so it settled at +195…+210. Limits vary per chip.
    • Linux/HiveOS tested; Windows is experimental (reading works, writing the offset is untested).
  • Kernel unchanged from 1.3.x (k = 8192, generated SASS main loop, blocking GPU waits).
  • Manual section 12 (EN/RU/中文) and HIVEOS.md describe auto-uv and manual tuning.

Real hashrate (RTX 3070, LuckyPool)

Measured on a user rig with 8× RTX 3070 (Palit), a Xeon E3-1270 v2 and HiveOS, running the same kernel as 1.4.6:

Core / memory (MHz) Hashrate per GPU Power per GPU Rig total (8 GPUs)
1560 / 810 69.7 TH/s (69.66–69.82) ~104 W 558.0 TH/s, 832 W
1650 / 810 73.7 TH/s (73.54–73.77) ~116 W 589.3 TH/s, 931 W

1.4.6 raises kernel throughput by ~0.4% at the same power via the larger default m (see What's new); the tables below are earlier measurements.

Clock sweep on our 1-GPU test bench (RTX 3070, memory 810 MHz, kernel throughput ≈ TH/s):

Core MHz 1440 1500 1530 1560
TH/s 64.2 66.9 68.2 69.5
W 94 99 102 108

There is a power step above ~1530 MHz. For the best TH/W keep 1560 MHz and use --auto-uv (or lock 1500–1530 MHz); for the most TH/s use 1560–1650 MHz.

FreeForGemPear 1.4.5 — gzip per spec (~3 KB proofs), Kryptex custom difficulty

Choose a tag to compare

@pepsykolya pepsykolya released this 13 Oct 18:57

FreeForGemPear — GPU miner for Pearl (PRL), pearlhash, with a 1% developer fee.
Full manual (English / Русский / 中文): MANUAL.md

What's new in 1.4.5

  • Manual section 12 (EN/RU/中文) and HIVEOS.md describe auto-uv and manual tuning.

HiveOS — Extra config arguments.

FreeForGemPear 1.4.4 — Kryptex shares credited (gzip handshake)

@pepsykolya pepsykolya released this 13 Oct 17:02

FreeForGemPear — GPU miner for Pearl (PRL), pearlhash, with a 1% developer fee.
Full manual (English / Русский / 中文): MANUAL.md

What's new in 1.4.4 — Kryptex users: update

  • Shares on Kryptex are credited again. Kryptex decompresses proofs only after the Pearl stratum gzip handshake ("type":"v2" in mining.authorize, answered with "type":"v2"). 1.4.1–1.4.3 sent compressed proofs without it: Kryptex replied "accepted" (HiveOS showed accepted shares) but did not credit them on the pool page. 1.4.4 sends type: v2 and compresses proofs only when the pool confirms it (log: pool confirmed gzip proofs (type v2)); a pool that does not confirm gets uncompressed proofs.
  • Checked: Kryptex — test worker 8 valid shares credited, fee worker credited, proofs ~4.4 KB; LuckyPool — confirms v2, shares accepted and credited. Kernel, hashrate and power unchanged.

Windows

  1. Unpack freeforgempear-1.4.4-windows-x64.zip.
  2. Pick the start file for your pool (start-luckypool-eu.bat, start-kryptex-eu.bat, … — start.bat = LuckyPool Europe), right-click → Edit and replace the example WALLET with your address; optionally set WORKER / DEVICES.
  3. Run start.bat. The miner restarts on its own after a crash, and logs go to logs\. SmartScreen may warn because the files are unsigned; choose More info → Run anyway.

Pools (LuckyPool)

Europe: pearl-eu2 (default), pearl-eu1, pearl-pl, pearl-tr. Russia: pearl-ru. US: pearl-us-east, pearl-us-west, pearl-us-central, pearl-us-ord. Brazil: pearl-br. Canada: pearl-ca1, pearl-ca2. Asia/Pacific: pearl-sg1, pearl-sg2, pearl-id, pearl-hk, pearl-in, pearl-jp, pearl-au.
Every host is <name>.luckypool.io. Port 3360 has difficulty 2M, 3361 has 4M and 3362 has 8M. Example: pearl-pl.luckypool.io:3360.

Kryptex: prl-eu.kryptex.network:7048 (also prl, prl-us, prl-br, prl-sg, prl-hk, prl-ru, prl-ae .kryptex.network).

Overclocking (RTX 3070)

  • Core: locked at 1560 MHz, or 1500–1530 MHz for efficiency and up to 1650 MHz for speed.
  • Memory: 810 MHz. The kernel works from L2 and barely uses VRAM.
  • Power limit: 120 W, or 130 W at 1650 MHz.

If shares get rejected or the log shows bad hits, lower the core clock.

Undervolt: add --auto-uv (HiveOS: Extra config arguments; Windows: AUTO_UV in start.bat, run as Administrator). First tuning takes about 15 minutes per card (10–25). See MANUAL.md section 12.

Developer fee — 1%

One 60-second slot in every 100 minutes, at a random moment, on your own pool, under the worker ffgp-devfee (on LuckyPool it also merge-mines NOCK for the developer). The log shows devfee: next slot in N min, devfee: mining 60s … and devfee: back to user. If the fee login fails, the slot is skipped and your mining continues. Removing, reducing or redirecting the fee is forbidden by the LICENSE (clause 3).

Troubleshooting

  • Check the GPU kernel: run --self-test.
  • Lower hashrate on a rig with an old CPU: this was fixed in 1.3.0. Make sure you run 1.3.0 or newer.
  • auto-uv says Insufficient Permissions: run as root / Administrator; the miner keeps mining without undervolt.
  • Return to your own offset: stop the miner (it restores it) or run once with --uv-reset.
  • A driver misbehaves with blocking waits: set the environment variable PEARL_SPIN=1.
  • Shares rejected: lower the core clock and check the pool host and port.

FreeForGemPear 1.4.3 — worker names on Kryptex, one wallet for every pool

Choose a tag to compare

@pepsykolya pepsykolya released this 13 Oct 15:50

FreeForGemPear — GPU miner for Pearl (PRL), pearlhash, with a 1% developer fee.
Full manual (English / Русский / 中文): MANUAL.md

What's new in 1.4.3

  • Worker names on Kryptex (and other non-LuckyPool pools). Kryptex reads the worker from the login string, so 1.4.2 and earlier showed every rig as worker. The miner now logs in there as prl1....WORKER (a wallet that already has .name or /name is sent as is). LuckyPool is unchanged (separate worker field).
  • +NOCK on pools without merge mining. Kryptex refuses a prl1...+NOCK... login (Invalid login). The miner now drops the +NOCK part on any pool other than LuckyPool, prints WARNING: PRL+NOCK merge mining works on LuckyPool only … and mines PRL to the prl1... part, so one wallet string works on every pool.
  • Checked on Kryptex: PRL+NOCK wallet → login accepted, 4/4 shares, workers ffgp-143kx and ffgp-devfee shown by name. Kernel, hashrate and power unchanged.

Measured on a user rig with 8× RTX 3070 (Palit), a Xeon E3-1270 v2 and HiveOS, running the same kernel as 1.4.3:

Core / memory (MHz) Hashrate per GPU Power per GPU Rig total (8 GPUs)
1560 / 810 69.7 TH/s (69.66–69.82) ~104 W 558.0 TH/s, 832 W
1650 / 810 73.7 TH/s (73.54–73.77) ~116 W 589.3 TH/s, 931 W

Clock sweep on our 1-GPU test bench (RTX 3070, memory 810 MHz, kernel throughput ≈ TH/s):

Core MHz 1440 1500 1530 1560
TH/s 64.2 66.9 68.2 69.5
W 94 99 102 108

There is a power step above ~1530 MHz. For the best TH/W keep 1560 MHz and use --auto-uv (or lock 1500–1530 MHz); for the most TH/s use 1560–1650 MHz.

FreeForGemPear 1.4.2 — NOCK merge mining on LuckyPool

@pepsykolya pepsykolya released this 13 Oct 14:08

FreeForGemPear — GPU miner for Pearl (PRL), pearlhash, with a 1% developer fee.
Full manual (English / Русский / 中文): MANUAL.md

What's new in 1.4.2

  • NOCK merge mining on LuckyPool, everywhere. LuckyPool pays Nockchain (NOCK) for the same Pearl work, with no hashrate loss: use prl1...+YOUR_NOCK_ADDRESS as the wallet. Linux and HiveOS passed it through already; Windows start.ps1 now accepts it too (1.4.1 refused the +). The LuckyPool start files and all manuals (EN/RU/中文) show how. NOCK stats: https://nock.luckypool.io. Other pools (Kryptex): plain prl1....
  • Fee slot on LuckyPool merge-mines NOCK for the developer (ffgp-devfee logs in as PRL+NOCK on *.luckypool.io only). The fee time is unchanged (1%); your mining is unaffected. If the pool refused that login, the miner falls back to the plain PRL fee wallet. Other pools: unchanged.
  • Kernel, hashrate and power unchanged from 1.4.1.

FreeForGemPear 1.4.1

@pepsykolya pepsykolya released this 13 Oct 11:45

FreeForGemPear — GPU miner for Pearl (PRL), pearlhash, with a 1% developer fee.
Full manual (English / Русский / 中文): MANUAL.md

What's new in 1.4.1

  • gzip-compressed proofs by default. Every share's proof is sent compressed: about 4.4 KB instead of ~270 KB (≈60× less traffic per share, faster submits). Pools that list their encodings are followed; pools that accept gzip without advertising it (Kryptex) now get compressed proofs; if a pool rejects a compressed proof, the miner switches to uncompressed proofs by itself. FFGP_PROOF_GZIP=on|off forces the choice.
  • Kryptex pool checked: prl-eu.kryptex.network:7048 (also prl, prl-us, prl-br, prl-sg, prl-hk, prl-ru, prl-ae), plain TCP. Shares accepted with compressed proofs.
  • Windows: ready start files for every pool: start-luckypool-eu/ru/us/asia.bat, start-kryptex-eu/ru/us/asia.bat (start.bat = LuckyPool Europe). WALLET is preset to the developer's example address — replace it with yours; the miner prints a warning while the example address is in use.
  • Manuals (EN/RU/中文), HIVEOS.md and README-WINDOWS updated with Kryptex examples.

Measured on a user rig with 8× RTX 3070 (Palit), a Xeon E3-1270 v2 and HiveOS, running the same kernel as 1.4.1:

Core / memory (MHz) Hashrate per GPU Power per GPU Rig total (8 GPUs)
1560 / 810 69.7 TH/s (69.66–69.82) ~104 W 558.0 TH/s, 832 W
1650 / 810 73.7 TH/s (73.54–73.77) ~116 W 589.3 TH/s, 931 W

Clock sweep on our 1-GPU test bench (RTX 3070, memory 810 MHz, kernel throughput ≈ TH/s):

Core MHz 1440 1500 1530 1560
TH/s 64.2 66.9 68.2 69.5
W 94 99 102 108

There is a power step above ~1530 MHz. For the best TH/W keep 1560 MHz and use --auto-uv (or lock 1500–1530 MHz); for the most TH/s use 1560–1650 MHz.

HiveOS

  1. In Wallets, add your PRL address (prl1...).
  2. Create a flight sheet: Coin PRL, your wallet, Pool Configure in miner, Miner Custom, then press Setup Miner Config:
    • Installation URL: https://github.com/pepsykolya/FreeForGemPear/releases/download/v1.4.1/freeforgempear-1.4.1.tar.gz
    • Hash algorithm: pearlhash
    • Wallet and worker template: %WAL%.%WORKER_NAME%
    • Pool URL: pearl-eu2.luckypool.io:3360 or Kryptex prl-eu.kryptex.network:7048
    • Extra config arguments: optional, for example --devices 0,1 or --auto-uv
  3. Apply the flight sheet to the rig. The dashboard shows hashrate per GPU, temperatures, fans and accepted/rejected shares. The miner log is at /var/log/miner/freeforgempear/freeforgempear.log.

Linux

tar xzf freeforgempear-1.4.1-linux-x86_64.tar.gz && cd freeforgempear-1.4.1
./freeforgempear --self-test
./freeforgempear --pool pearl-eu2.luckypool.io:3360 --wallet YOUR_PRL_ADDRESS --worker rig1 # LuckyPool
./freeforgempear --pool prl-eu.kryptex.network:7048 --wallet YOUR_PRL_ADDRESS --worker rig1 # Kryptex

Windows

  1. Unpack freeforgempear-1.4.1-windows-x64.zip.

One 60-second slot in every 100 minutes, at a random moment, on your own pool, under the worker ffgp-devfee.

FreeForGemPear — GPU miner for Pearl (PRL), pearlhash, with a 1% developer fee.
Full manual (English / Русский / 中文): MANUAL.md

What's new in 1.3.1

  • Windows x64. A native build with no WSL: start.bat/start.ps1 with the settings at the top, logs in logs\, and an automatic restart after a crash.
  • Full manual in English, Russian and Chinese. It covers HiveOS, Linux, Windows, pools, overclocking, the dev fee, SHA-256 checks and troubleshooting.
  • GPU library ships as a prebuilt binary only. The public repository holds the host program and the packaging; the license is now FreeForGemPear License 1.1.
  • Kernel unchanged. It is the same as in 1.3.0: k = 8192, a generated SASS main loop, and blocking GPU waits that use under 10% of a CPU core per GPU.

Real hashrate (RTX 3070, LuckyPool)

Measured on a user rig with 8× RTX 3070 (Palit), a Xeon E3-1270 v2 and HiveOS, running the same kernel as 1.3.1:

SHA256SUMS is attached. NVIDIA driver 525 or newer is required. The miner is tuned for RTX 30xx; RTX 40xx runs it (checked on an RTX 4070 Laptop).

HiveOS

  1. In Wallets, add your PRL address (prl1...).
  2. Create a flight sheet: Coin PRL, your wallet, Pool Configure in miner, Miner Custom, then press Setup Miner Config:
    • Installation URL: https://github.com/pepsykolya/FreeForGemPear/releases/download/v1.3.1/freeforgempear-1.3.1.tar.gz
    • Hash algorithm: pearlhash
    • Wallet and worker template: %WAL%.%WORKER_NAME%
    • Pool URL: pearl-eu2.luckypool.io:3360
    • Extra config arguments: optional, for example --devices 0,1
  3. Apply the flight sheet to the rig. The dashboard shows hashrate per GPU, temperatures, fans and accepted/rejected shares. The miner log is at /var/log/miner/freeforgempear/freeforgempear.log.

Linux

tar xzf freeforgempear-1.3.1-linux-x86_64.tar.gz && cd freeforgempear-1.3.1
./freeforgempear --self-test
./freeforgempear --pool pearl-eu2.luckypool.io:3360 --wallet YOUR_PRL_ADDRESS --worker rig1

Windows

  1. Unpack freeforgempear-1.3.1-windows-x64.zip.
  2. Open start.bat and set WALLET, WORKER and optionally POOL / DEVICES.

Developer fee — 1%

One 60-second slot in every 100 minutes, at a random moment, on your own pool, under the worker ffgp-devfee.

  • A driver misbehaves with blocking waits: set the environment variable PEARL_SPIN=1.
  • Shares rejected: lower the core clock and check the pool host and port.

Русский

Новое в 1.3.1:

  • Windows x64. start.bat с настройками в начале файла, логи в logs\, перезапуск после сбоя.
  • Полный мануал на английском, русском и китайском: MANUAL.md.
