Warning

NeuralScreen requires the latest NVIDIA driver. Operation with older drivers or unsupported/non-standard configurations is not guaranteed.

A lighter panel that fits a 1080p screen, colour controls, a frame cap that holds its rate, a counter that no longer costs smoothness, the capture following the focused window, and the Frame Generation runtime 310.9.16.

Interface

  • A lighter panel. The main page ran past a 1080p screen. It is now four tiles (NR, FG, Boost, Camera), the FG steps, the profile and the intensity, then fold-out blocks - Network, Fine tuning, Camera, Colour, Source and comparison - whose headers say what is set inside. Open blocks are remembered. The collapsed state is a draggable bar that stays over a game and leaves the keyboard to it; it replaces mini mode.
  • The header has a close button. "x" next to "-": to the tray with "Close to tray", otherwise NeuralScreen quits. With "Minimise to tray" on, the tray is home - "-" goes there, a panel opened from the tray does not bring the taskbar button back, and the program starts in the tray (#171).

Fixes

  • The frame cap holds its rate (#166). The limiter lost the sleep's overshoot on every frame, so a cap of 72 ran at about 70.7 and dropped ~2% of a 71.93 fps video. Bench, the same source as for 2.5.0: 2.2% lost before, 0.0% now, 99.6% of frames exactly two refreshes apart.
  • The FPS counter no longer costs smoothness (#166). It redrew the overlay layer ten times a second; the worker draws it into the picture now. Bench with the counter on: 0.0% lost, 99.5% even (it shifted about a quarter of the intervals before). An open panel that nothing changes no longer redraws either.
  • Key presses made during a rebuild no longer replay in a burst (#171). A press older than 1.5 s when it is read is dropped and logged.
  • The before/after wipe is captioned and the settings captions are whole in every language.

New

  • Colour (its own block, #164): saturation, exposure (one stop either way), contrast, warmth and tint. Applied after the network, in light on HDR10 output too, and with the camera off.
  • Follow the focused window (Settings -> Capture, off by default, #157): in window mode a window that keeps the focus for 2.5 s becomes the source, through the live switch only - the same monitor, nothing recording. Lock screen, Explorer, dwm's ghost windows, tool and cloaked windows are never taken.
  • Dim while rebuilding (Settings -> Program, on by default, #157): off leaves the desktop in view while the pipeline restarts.
  • Interface protection for FG (Network block, off by default): still, textured areas over a moving picture are shown from the real frame in the generated ones, against HUD smear. Experimental.
  • NR preset (Fine tuning): Auto / A / B, for the NR runtime 310.9.16 (preset B is its new, smaller model; drop the DLL into native\libraries\). The bundled 310.8 has one model. The log names the runtime's version.
  • Frame Generation runtime 310.9.16, NVIDIA's redistributable from the DLSS SDK (was 310.9.1).

Tests

Full suite: 321 pass, 6 fail, 6 skipped; GUI-E2E 14/14. The six: the runtime manifest (re-pinned by this release), two tests that still expected the old layout (updated), test_fg_waitable_drain (fails the same way on v2.5.0's code on this bench), and test_dda_format_pin and test_gpu_recorder, which pass on their own. GPU tests for the counter, the colour and FG 310.9.16 (x2 at 118 fps, 6x ceiling) pass; the bench runs are above. HDR tests skipped (no HDR display); NR 310.9.16 not measured yet.
