Saboteur II v1.1

Changes

• Play in the browser: Saboteur II now runs in your web browser. Nothing to install; sound starts on the first key press or click.
• See the whole world map as pre-rendered PNG.
• More responsive controls (Ctrl-K, on by default):
  • The cursor keys and SPACE act for as long as they're held and stop the moment you let go.
  • A held direction keeps working after a jump.
  • Every SPACE press is a new attack, so quick taps no longer freeze the punch.
  • Ctrl-K switches back to the original feel.
• New cheat: Ctrl-J adds 100 to the timer, up to 999.
• SEE CHEATS screen: press C in the main menu to see all cheat keys.
• Smaller macOS download: the macOS package was about 5 MB larger than needed.

Downloads

• Windows: saboteur2-1.1-windows-x86_64.zip: unzip it and run saboteur2.exe. Keep SDL2.dll in the same folder.
• Linux: saboteur2-1.1-linux-x86_64.tar.gz: it needs SDL2 - sudo apt install libsdl2-2.0-0.
• MacOS: saboteur2-1.1-macos-x86_64.zip: unzip it and run saboteur2. Keep SDL2.framework in the same folder. On Apple Silicon it runs under Rosetta 2. The app is not signed, so on first start allow it
  under System Settings → Privacy & Security, or run xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine <folder>.

Saboteur II v1.0

Changes

• First release. Saboteur II recompiled from the original DOS .COM file to native x86-64 for Windows, Linux and macOS.
• Controls
  • Cursor keys to move and Space to attack or pick up things are the defaults.
  • Esc ends the mission and goes back to the main menu, same as Ctrl-C.
  • F10, Ctrl-W and Ctrl-Q quit at any time.
• Fullscreen mode The game starts in fullscreen by default, scaled to your screen with sharp pixels.
  • Toggle between fullscreen and window with Alt-Enter or F11 (Cmd-Enter or Cmd-F11 on macOS).
  • Your choice is remembered for the next start.
  • Start with --window to open in a window.
• Cheats
  • Ctrl-I toggles invincibility: damage no longer drains the energy bar.
  • Ctrl-O toggles one-hit kills: every hit knocks the enemy down.
  • Ctrl-P adds $100 to PAY.
• The menu screen shows the version number.
