wifibox-guest(5) can not be found at man.freebsd.org

Online pages such as wifibox(8) include links to wifibox-guest(5).

• wifibox-alpine(5) exists
• wifibox-guest(5) does not.

With wifibox installed (on FreeBSD), man -P less 5 wifibox-guest presents the wifibox-alpine page, which does not mention wifibox-guest.

I guess, the simplest workaround might be an edition to:

That is right. wifibox-guest(5) is just a symbolic link to the manual page shipped with virtual machine (guest) "image" that is currently configured for Wifibox to run. (At the moment, there is only one, Wifibox/Alpine, which installs wifibox-alpine(5), but there may be others conceptually.)

The reason is simple: wifibox does not (and should not) know about the details of the guest system. So when it is mentioned, the generic wifibox-guest manual page is cited, which shall then always point to that of the corresponding implementation.

I am not sure if I understand the suggestion about the edition to the wifibox-alpine.5 page. Could you please elaborate on that?

It's a long time since I edited a manual page, I imagined that something could be done to make the page reachable through the online link.

I just remembered, the pkgbase(7) example:

– it works, despite the page having no visible mention of pkgbase.

So, basically your suggestion is to add a line commented out with the name wifibox-guest for the wifibox-alpine manual page so that it becomes indexed properly on the web site?

If the answer is yes, how would that work if there were multiple similar pages? For example, let us assume somebody creates a Wifibox/Arch guest, that has the wifibox-arch manual page. When it is installed alongside Wifibox, the wifibox-guest page will be pointing to that one instead. That is, wifibox-guest may point to multiple different manual pages, depending on the deployment configuration.
