Split-Flap Card v0.1.0-beta.16

Beta 16 is a release-blocker validation build focused on editor usability, display depth, airport-inspired themes and split-flap motion polish before a future stable v0.1.0 release.

Summary

This beta addresses findings from the Beta 15 Home Assistant validation round.

The main focus is making the visual editor more useful, improving display layering, restoring clearer theme separation and validating the card in real dashboard use before publishing a stable release.

  • Display frame control in the visual editor.
  • Decorative screw control in the visual editor.
  • Automatic screw lockout when display frame is disabled.
  • Split-flap layer/depth control:
    • Flat
    • Raised / above frame
    • Recessed / behind frame
  • Font preset preview in the visual editor.
  • Clearer custom font-family guidance.
  • Clock format help text with examples.
  • Airport/terminal-inspired theme refinements.
  • New theme: terminal_blue_orange.

  • Clock default is now HH:mm:ss.
  • Text source now restores a useful default text when switching back from Clock or Entity mode.

Fixed / Improved

  • Reduced confusion around font presets and custom CSS font-family placement.
  • Added visual feedback for typography presets.
  • Avoided impossible screw/frame states.
  • Improved diagnostics with frame and display layer information.
  • Improved recessed/raised display behavior for dashboards where the card background previously filled too much of the visible area.
  • Preserved the improved segment flip behavior validated during Beta 16 testing.

Theme updates

Beta 16 includes a refreshed theme set inspired by airport signage, terminal boards and wayfinding graphics:

  • classic_airport — dark airport sign style with yellow lettering.
  • arlanda_express — blue/yellow airport-rail inspired display.
  • sweden_delight — Nordic blue/yellow wayfinding style.
  • terminal_blue_orange — retro terminal signage with deep blue and orange.
  • gate_orange — orange gate-board inspired display with dark navy text.

Validation focus

Please test:

  • Editor shows 0.1.0-beta.16.
  • Clock source defaults to HH:mm:ss.
  • Switching Clock → Text restores useful default text.
  • Display frame modes render correctly.
  • Decorative screws disable when frame is set to none.
  • Flat / Raised / Recessed layer modes are visibly different.
  • Font preset preview updates when changing preset.
  • Classic Airport, Arlanda Express and Nordic/Sweden themes are visually distinct.
  • Upper flap animation reads more clearly as a flip/fall motion
