v5.7.0
Pasting and adding files now merges instead of failing, Play and Close
game both behave, and editing an image is easier to find.
- Replacing a file that already exists works. Pasting or adding a
file over one of the same name failed outright with
fs_copy_dest_existsand left you no way forward. Now you're asked
once, and only about the files that actually collide. - Folders merge rather than replace. Pasting a folder over an
existing one drops in the files you brought and leaves everything
else alone — copying a folder containing justeboot.bininto a game
no longer threatens the other 900 files beside it. A file still can't
silently replace a folder (or the reverse); that's refused. - Closing a game now closes it properly. "Close game" was falling
back to killing the process outright, because the API it tried first
can't see running apps on this firmware at all — it reported an empty
list with a game plainly running, and rejected the app id. It now goes
through the launcher's own close call, the same one the console uses,
and falls back only if that fails. Verified on both consoles across a
PS5 title, a native PS4 title, and a PS2 Classic (which runs as two
processes — both close from the one call). - Play no longer starts a game and then minimises it. Sony's launch
calls can report failure for a launch that is actually going ahead.
The fallback ladder believed them and fired a second launch at a
title already starting — and the shell answers a second request by
pushing the game to the background, which is why the game was running
but had to be reopened on the console. Each attempt is now confirmed
against the running-process list before the next one is tried. Pressing
Play on a game that's already running brings it to the front instead of
re-launching it. - "Open files" in the edit banner actually opens the folder. It did
nothing when you were already on the Files screen. - Finishing an edit refreshes the list, so the image reappears and
the edit mount disappears without a manual refresh. - Editing is visible without hunting for it. "Edit files" now sits
next to Mount on every disk-image row instead of hiding in the ⋯ menu,
which also makes the difference between the two obvious: Mount hands
the image to ShadowMount+ so you can play it, Edit checks it out so you
can change what's inside. - Editing an image on a USB or external drive picks a mount point that
works. It defaulted to the image's own drive, which the PS5 kernel
refuses to mount into. It now defaults to internal storage — the same
thing ShadowMount+ does with images on USB. - The ShadowMount+ speed tip no longer quotes a firmware range that had
gone stale; the Payloads library entry is the maintained source.
