Scrolling on Linux is smooth again, and a game that starts behind the
dashboard can be brought forward.

  • Linux scrolling was sluggish because the app turned off graphics
    acceleration for everyone.
    Both WebKitGTK rendering workarounds were
applied by default to rescue a blank window on some GPU setups — but
one of them, disabling accelerated compositing, makes the whole page
render in software. That is barely noticeable on a static window and
very noticeable on this app's long lists. Only the targeted workaround
is on by default now; the heavier one is still available if you need
it (WEBKIT_DISABLE_COMPOSITING_MODE=1 ./PS5Upload.sh), and the FAQ
    says what it costs.
  • "Bring to front" for a running game. Starting a game and putting
it on screen are separate things on the PS5, and a game started from
here often comes up behind the dashboard. The button appears only
while a title is running, and asks the console to show it. It confirms
first — switching to the game on the console is still the reliable
way, and this only works once the game has finished loading.
  • Play no longer waits around. It returns as soon as the game is
confirmed started, instead of holding on while trying to raise it.
  • Closing a game and starting one are unchanged from 5.7.x; the
automatic foreground attempt that briefly existed during development
    never shipped.
