v1.21.0: architecture decisions in the Spec tab
Signed by Mozilla for Firefox 140 or later, plus an unpacked build for Chrome, Edge and Brave.
Firefox: click markdown-pr-sentence-comments-1.21.0.xpi below and allow github.com to install the add-on.
Chrome, Edge, Brave: download markdown-pr-sentence-comments-chrome-1.21.0.zip, unzip it to a folder you keep, open chrome://extensions, switch on Developer mode, and click Load unpacked. For an update, replace the folder contents and click the reload icon.
New in this version:
- The Spec tab shows
architecture-decisions.mdas its own section between the proposal and the specs, one row per## D1.,## D2.decision, with change dots and thread counts. The stats line counts the decisions. - A decision heading that is not numbered in order gets a warning.
- Two more spec checks: a REMOVED requirement needs a
**Reason**and a**Migration**, and a Purpose needs at least 50 characters. design.mdstays supported for changes written with an older schema.
Based on chienyuanchang/rich-diff-comments (MIT).
v1.20.0: faster startup, take two
Signed by Mozilla for Firefox 140 or later, plus an unpacked build for Chrome, Edge and Brave.
Firefox: click markdown-pr-sentence-comments-1.20.0.xpi below and allow github.com to install the add-on.
Chrome, Edge, Brave: download markdown-pr-sentence-comments-chrome-1.20.0.zip, unzip it to a folder you keep, open chrome://extensions, switch on Developer mode, and click Load unpacked. For an update, replace the folder contents and click the reload icon.
Faster in this version, measured on a real pull request:
- A
console.loginside a check that runs for every button on every sweep step is gone. It printed DOM nodes hundreds of times per startup. - The files are mounted while the route-data request is still in flight, instead of one after the other.
- Larger sweep steps, shorter pauses.
- The glossary candidates are fetched in parallel instead of three 404s in a row.
- OpenSpec paths that carry nothing, such as
.gitkeep, are skipped; each one cost a 200 KB page download.
Based on chienyuanchang/rich-diff-comments (MIT).
v1.19.0: faster startup
Signed by Mozilla for Firefox 140 or later, plus an unpacked build for Chrome, Edge and Brave.
Firefox: click markdown-pr-sentence-comments-1.19.0.xpi below and allow github.com to install the add-on.
Chrome, Edge, Brave: download markdown-pr-sentence-comments-chrome-1.19.0.zip, unzip it to a folder you keep, open chrome://extensions, switch on Developer mode, and click Load unpacked. For an update, replace the folder contents and click the reload icon.
Faster in this version:
- The mount sweep stops as soon as every Markdown file has mounted, instead of always scrolling the whole page with a pause per step, and the second sweep is gone: the toggles are clicked where they are.
- Only one startup runs at a time, and the page watcher ignores our own changes while rendering. Before, every click queued another full startup.
- The OpenSpec files and the glossary load in parallel with rendering, so the Spec outline is ready when the panel appears.
- The glossary only scans blocks it has not seen yet.
- The console prints a timing line for each phase, which helps if something is still slow.
Based on chienyuanchang/rich-diff-comments (MIT).
v1.18.0: no traces, quiet on non-spec PRs
Signed by Mozilla for Firefox 140 or later, plus an unpacked build for Chrome, Edge and Brave.
Firefox: click markdown-pr-sentence-comments-1.18.0.xpi below and allow github.com to install the add-on.
Chrome, Edge, Brave: download markdown-pr-sentence-comments-chrome-1.18.0.zip, unzip it to a folder you keep, open chrome://extensions, switch on Developer mode, and click Load unpacked. For an update, replace the folder contents and click the reload icon.
Fixed in this version:
- No leftovers. Leaving the changed-files view removes the bar, the panel, the page offsets and the highlights, so GitHub's header and layout are untouched again.
- Quiet on other pull requests. Without files under
openspec/there is no bar, no panel and no automatic rendering. Everything appears as soon as you switch a Markdown file to rich diff yourself.
Based on chienyuanchang/rich-diff-comments (MIT).
v1.17.0: calm jumping
Signed by Mozilla for Firefox 140 or later, plus an unpacked build for Chrome, Edge and Brave.
Firefox: click markdown-pr-sentence-comments-1.17.0.xpi below and allow github.com to install the add-on.
Chrome, Edge, Brave: download markdown-pr-sentence-comments-chrome-1.17.0.zip, unzip it to a folder you keep, open chrome://extensions, switch on Developer mode, and click Load unpacked. For an update, replace the folder contents and click the reload icon.
Fixed in this version:
- Jumping is calm again. A jump is instant, like a normal anchor link, and the corrections that follow are too small to see. Before, the animated scroll was interrupted every time the page grew while files were rendering, which made the view hop between sections.
Based on chienyuanchang/rich-diff-comments (MIT).
v1.16.0: reliable jumping and rendering
Signed by Mozilla for Firefox 140 or later, plus an unpacked build for Chrome, Edge and Brave.
Firefox: click markdown-pr-sentence-comments-1.16.0.xpi below and allow github.com to install the add-on.
Chrome, Edge, Brave: download markdown-pr-sentence-comments-chrome-1.16.0.zip, unzip it to a folder you keep, open chrome://extensions, switch on Developer mode, and click Load unpacked. For an update, replace the folder contents and click the reload icon.
Fixed in this version:
- The jump to the proposal works. The render sweep scrolls the page to force GitHub to mount every file and then restores its own position, which silently undid the jump and left you at the first file. It now restores only when nothing else moved the reader.
- Rendering no longer loops. Instead of re-running startup until the files appear, it waits in the background for GitHub's file list and renders once.
- Clicking a row lands in the right place. A jump waits until the block exists, falls back to the nearest block after the line, and corrects itself until the target stops moving.
Based on chienyuanchang/rich-diff-comments (MIT).
v1.15.0: Spec by default, green change dots, calm loading
Signed by Mozilla for Firefox 140 or later, plus an unpacked build for Chrome, Edge and Brave.
Firefox: click markdown-pr-sentence-comments-1.15.0.xpi below and allow github.com to install the add-on.
Chrome, Edge, Brave: download markdown-pr-sentence-comments-chrome-1.15.0.zip, unzip it to a folder you keep, open chrome://extensions, switch on Developer mode, and click Load unpacked. For an update, replace the folder contents and click the reload icon.
New since 1.13.0:
- Spec opens by default. The Outline tab is hidden when the PR has a spec, and stays for Markdown PRs without one.
- Green change dots in a column of their own, so they no longer sit on the delta bar and the labels stay aligned.
- Calm loading. The page is covered by a solid screen with a spinner while the Markdown files render, instead of showing the scrolling and the layout jumps.
- Rendering is more reliable after clicking into a PR: it retries while GitHub's file list is still loading, which is why it used to work only after a reload.
Based on chienyuanchang/rich-diff-comments (MIT).
v1.13.0: minimal top bar, spec navigation, changed-only
Signed by Mozilla for Firefox 140 or later, plus an unpacked build for Chrome, Edge and Brave.
Firefox: click markdown-pr-sentence-comments-1.13.0.xpi below and allow github.com to install the add-on.
Chrome, Edge, Brave: download markdown-pr-sentence-comments-chrome-1.13.0.zip, unzip it to a folder you keep, open chrome://extensions, switch on Developer mode, and click Load unpacked. For an update, replace the folder contents and click the reload icon.
New in this version:
- Quieter top bar: only the tabs and one pair of arrows that walk the spec outline, requirement by requirement. The auto-render switch moved into the panel header.
- Spec first, and the panel opens on the Outline by itself.
- Jump to the proposal once the Markdown files have rendered.
- Changed rows are marked: every proposal section, requirement, scenario and task this PR touched carries a dot, and Changed only hides the rest. A follow-up PR that edits a merged spec and ticks off a task shows exactly those.
Based on chienyuanchang/rich-diff-comments (MIT).
v1.12.0: top bar layout and auto-render
Signed by Mozilla for Firefox 140 or later, plus an unpacked build for Chrome, Edge and Brave.
Firefox: click markdown-pr-sentence-comments-1.12.0.xpi below and allow github.com to install the add-on.

New in this version:
- New layout: a thin bar at the top of the window instead of a window floating over the diff. The page is pushed down, so nothing is covered.
- Panel: the tabs at the left of the bar open the Outline, Threads, Changes and Spec panel. It docks left of the content and pushes it aside, or floats above it (button in the panel header).
topens and closes it,Shift+Tresets it. - Automatic rendering: changed Markdown files are rendered as rich diff when you open the changed files. The round button in the bar switches this off and the choice is remembered.
Based on chienyuanchang/rich-diff-comments (MIT).
v1.11.0: glossary terms (Firefox and Chrome)
Signed by Mozilla, for Firefox 140 or later.
To install or update, click markdown-pr-sentence-comments-1.11.0.xpi below in Firefox, and allow github.com to install the add-on.
New in this version:
- Glossary terms: if the repository has a
GLOSSARY.md(root,docs/,openspec/, or changed in the PR), its terms get a dotted underline in rendered Markdown. Hover a term to see its definition, section, and a link to the glossary line.Shift+Ghides or shows the terms.
Based on chienyuanchang/rich-diff-comments (MIT).
Chrome, Edge, Brave
Chrome does not install extensions from outside its store, so you load it as an unpacked extension:
- Download
markdown-pr-sentence-comments-chrome-1.11.0.zipbelow and unzip it to a folder you keep, for example~/extensions/. - Open
chrome://extensionsand switch on Developer mode (top right). - Click Load unpacked and select the
markdown-pr-sentence-commentsfolder.
The extension stays installed after a restart. It does not update itself: for a new version, replace the folder contents and click the reload icon on the extension card. Chrome shows a warning about the browser_specific_settings key, which is for Firefox only and is safe to ignore.
