@philipyaz philipyaz released this 27 Jul 21:01

First public release: a native arm64 macOS app for the Canon imageFORMULA P-215II.

Install

brew install --cask philipyaz/tap/p215-scan

Or download P215.Scan-1.0.0.zip below, drop P215 Scan.app into /Applications, and brew install sane-backends. The app is not notarized — Homebrew 6 installs it ready to launch, but with a hand-downloaded zip (or an older Homebrew) macOS may ask you to allow the first launch under System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway.

Setup

Set the scanner's rear Auto Start switch to OFF, plug it in, scan (⌘R).

Highlights

  • Scan through SANE's canon_dr backend: duplex, blank-page detection, deskew, auto-rotate
  • Page editor: rotate, straighten, trim, brightness/contrast, greyscale, B&W
  • Export PDF / TIFF / JPEG / PNG with an invisible OCR text layer (14 languages, Apple Vision)
  • Presets and one-click scan-to-folder jobs
  • A fully reverse-engineered spec of Canon's Auto Start "file tunnel" transport in reference/protocol/

Requires macOS 14+ on Apple Silicon, plus sane-backends from Homebrew.
