@philppplik philppplik released this 18 Oct 19:21

Somnia 12.2.0-beta.7 (pre-release)

Built from the full release-matrix CI run on the release commit: frontend e2e, native, macOS, Windows, Windows ARM64, Linux ARM64, all four CLI jobs, cli-checksums.

Highlights

  • Studio lifecycle adapters: Slides, Photos, Sound, Video, Vector and Design now suspend in the background and resume from verified checkpoints - dirty documents keep their unsaved work through suspension and are never evicted silently.
  • Session safety: Documents and Sheets write verified recovery checkpoints while you edit and restore them after a crash or a lost engine. Closing the window with unsaved edits now asks first and says whether a recovery copy exists.
  • Transcript Hub: transcribe a browser-decodable audio file locally with the optional whisper.cpp helper and the existing ggml-base model (up to 10 minutes and 20 MB). Review and edit the text, export as TXT. No cloud fallback; builds without the helper refuse transcription.
  • Job scheduler: application-owned job leases with priority lanes, bounded queues and byte reservations. Lifecycle pressure and resource profiles control admission; queued and running jobs protect engines from suspension.
  • Extension idle-suspend: idle extension hosts suspend after 5 minutes (1 minute under memory pressure) and resume on demand, inside the lifecycle extensions budget.

Fixes

  • 3D Studio e2e: viewport readiness is now a deterministic session signal, deflaking the intermittent KHR_texture_transform timeout.
  • Transcript Hub controls use the design-system primitives.

Known issues

  • Installers remain unsigned; SmartScreen and Gatekeeper can warn.
  • No Intel macOS build (Apple Silicon only).
  • Deploy, frameworks and the Somnia CLI remain experimental.
  • Studio export/playback/AI call sites do not acquire job leases yet; they run outside admission control in this build.
  • The Transcript Hub shows "unavailable" until an optional helper release is published for the platform.

Install

  • macOS: Somnia-v12.2.0-beta.7-macos.dmg (Apple Silicon only, ad-hoc signed, not notarized; right-click > Open on first launch).
  • Windows x64: Somnia-v12.2.0-beta.7-x64-setup.exe or -x64.msi. Windows ARM64: -arm64-setup.exe or -arm64.msi.
  • Linux x64: -amd64.deb and -amd64.AppImage. Linux ARM64: -arm64.deb.
  • CLI archives (Linux/Windows, x86_64 and aarch64) are attached (somnia-cli-*); keep sidecar/ next to the binary and install Node 20+ and git on PATH.

Checksums

SHA256SUMS.txt covers every desktop installer and CLI archive in this release. Use the line for the exact file you downloaded. Linux: sha256sum -c SHA256SUMS.txt --ignore-missing; Windows: Get-FileHash <file> -Algorithm SHA256.

@philppplik philppplik released this 18 Oct 14:37

Somnia 12.2.0-beta.6 (pre-release)

Built from the full release-matrix CI run 39130472086 on commit 395987f: frontend e2e, native, macOS, Windows, Windows ARM64, Linux ARM64, all four CLI jobs, cli-checksums.

Highlights

  • Update channel: signed stable/beta/alpha channels in-app. Beta and alpha builds now install prerelease updates directly from the app; channel manifests (latest.json, latest-beta.json, latest-alpha.json) are published with each release.
  • Studio lifecycle: the lifecycle subsystem lands on this line - studios suspend and resume instead of staying resident, cutting idle memory and CPU.
  • Session safety: verified crash-recovery checkpoints restore your session after an unexpected exit.
  • Settings transfer: export your setup and import it on another machine, with a reviewed apply step before anything changes.
  • Accessibility: keyboard navigation and contrast pass across the shell, including toolbar navigation announced in beta.5.
  • Native ARM64 builds are back: Windows ARM64 and Linux ARM64 installers and CLI archives ship with this release.
  • Sheets: filter slicer with date-aware values and table binding, filter timeline (date-period view, current-period pick, table binding), half-open numeric range filter op, and the duplicated value-list filter removed from the Layout panel.

Fixes

  • Sheets: filter mirror readback per column, matching the engine's criteria accumulation; timeline seeds its period ticks from the session filter mirror.
  • E2E: the full Playwright suite now runs sharded four ways in a dedicated job; rail toolbar labels resolve per locale in the i18n finish pass.
  • Shell: removed stray role=status landmarks that shadowed the shell announce region.

Planned next

Per-studio lifecycle adapters (Slides, Photos, Sound, Video, Vector, Design stay resident today), the job-scheduler bridge with a pressure hook, and extension idle-suspend return in a following beta.

Known issues

  • Installers remain unsigned; SmartScreen and Gatekeeper can warn.
  • No Intel macOS build (Apple Silicon only).
  • Deploy, frameworks and the Somnia CLI remain experimental.
  • Known CI flake: studio3d:264 (KHR_texture_transform) can intermittently fail a run; reruns pass.

Install

  • macOS: Somnia-v12.2.0-beta.6-macos.dmg (Apple Silicon only, ad-hoc signed, not notarized; right-click > Open on first launch).
  • Windows x64: Somnia-v12.2.0-beta.6-x64-setup.exe or -x64.msi. Windows ARM64: -arm64-setup.exe or -arm64.msi.
  • Linux x64: -amd64.deb and -amd64.AppImage. Linux ARM64: -arm64.deb.
  • CLI archives (Linux/Windows, x86_64 and aarch64) are attached (somnia-cli-*); keep sidecar/ next to the binary and install Node 20+ and git on PATH.

@philppplik philppplik released this 17 Oct 21:50

Somnia 12.2.0-beta.5 (pre-release)

Built from fully green CI runs on commit f9d28a4 (e2e suite run 39048817930 on c6a1832 plus harness-only pin, and the full release-matrix run 39060016007 on f9d28a4: frontend e2e, native, macOS, Windows, both CLI jobs, cli-checksums).

Highlights

  • Agent panel: one conversation follows you across studios - stable conversation id, cross-studio history under the explicit "Reuse chat history" opt-in (off by default), tool offers follow the active studio (0105, 0109).
  • Handoff hardening: Slides picture round-trip through Photos works end to end (opaque fixture, handback survives engine refusals, returned picture reaches slides.replaceImage as base64, deck identified by media name).
  • Sound: AI proposal review names the settings-changes list for assistive tech; propose tool stays offerable to local models.
  • Animation: APNG exports download as .png; stacked timeline keys cycle on click; timeline lane header wraps long layer names.
  • Sheets: Excel-style cut/paste moves the block (cleared by Delete); Edit-in-Sheets handoff opens explicitly.
  • Photos: opening a photo no longer crashes on the Light panel.

Fixes

  • 3D: bevel segments forwarded through the viewport controller; multi-mark gizmo group pivot; area lights survive .som3d roundtrips; texture slot thumbnails render; remesh/sculpt command fixes; slow first-time viewport loads finish.
  • Documents: render-time selection reads survive a caret ahead of block text.
  • Code: per-file unsaved source tab status.
  • Markdown: source editor regains focus after the reveal menu closes.
  • Video: atomic I/O trim against render-loop re-sync.
  • Agent: saved status rendered once, chip refresh regression fixed.
  • Design system: dropped the stale class:diff hook (selector artifact, production unchanged).

Planned for beta.6

The following items from the beta.4 line are intentionally not part of this build and return in beta.6: session safety (crash-recovery checkpoints), settings transfer (export/import UI), studio lifecycle and jobs scheduling (performance controls), the in-app update channel, accessibility toolbar navigation, and native Windows ARM64 / Linux ARM64 builds.

Known issues

  • Installers remain unsigned; SmartScreen and Gatekeeper can warn.
  • No ARM64 builds in this release (Windows ARM64 and Linux ARM64 return in beta.6). No Intel macOS build.
  • Deploy, frameworks and the Somnia CLI remain experimental.
  • Known CI flake: chatUnread timeout (core tests) can intermittently fail a run; reruns pass.

Install

  • macOS: Somnia_12.2.0_aarch64.dmg (Apple Silicon only, ad-hoc signed, not notarized; right-click > Open on first launch).
  • Windows x64: Somnia-v12.2.0-beta.5-x64-setup.exe or -x64.msi.
  • Linux x64: .deb and .AppImage.
  • CLI archives (Linux/Windows, x86_64) are attached (somnia-cli-*); keep sidecar/ next to the binary and install Node 20+ and git on PATH.

@philppplik philppplik released this 14 Oct 11:13

Somnia 12.2.0-beta.4 (pre-release)

Built from a fully green CI run (frontend, native, macOS, Windows, Windows ARM64, Linux ARM64, all four CLI jobs, cli-checksums) on commit cef5876.

Highlights

  • Signed auto-update on the alpha and beta channels: the update pill installs signed prerelease builds in-app, with per-channel manifests and full SemVer comparison.
  • Native Windows ARM64 application and CLI builds for Windows-on-ARM PCs.
  • Native Linux ARM64 deb package and CLI archive.
  • Settings transfer: versioned, classified setup export/import with Merge/Replace review, restore point and rollback; secrets and permissions are never exported.
  • Provider reasoning replay for xAI, Meta and DeepSeek, and Grok (xAI), Meta and DeepSeek in the CLI task-engine sidecar.
  • Studio lifecycle core: warm/suspended/evicted states with session checkpoints and a new Settings > Advanced > Performance section.
  • Per-studio layout restore across restarts.

Fixes

  • Vibe Space and studio shell regression fixes (inline SVG inspector, strict SVG replacement, video session notifications).
  • Architecture-specific artifact names and release checksum coverage keep x64 and ARM64 downloads separate. Existing x64 names stay unchanged.
  • Windows ARM64 git test isolation fixed for the windows-11-arm runner.

Known issues

  • Installers remain unsigned; SmartScreen and Gatekeeper can warn. The Windows ARM64 NSIS starter runs through x86 emulation, but the application payload is native ARM64.
  • Linux ARM64 ships a deb package, not an AppImage. Manual installation only.
  • ARM64 device tests (GUI and installer behavior on real hardware) are not covered by CI compilation and header checks.
  • No Intel macOS build. No Store ARM64 package or ARM updater feed in this pipeline.
  • Deploy, frameworks and the Somnia CLI remain experimental.

Install

  • macOS: Somnia_12.2.0_aarch64.dmg (Apple Silicon only, ad-hoc signed, not notarized; right-click > Open on first launch).
  • Windows x64: Somnia-v12.2.0-beta.4-x64-setup.exe or -x64.msi. Windows ARM64: Somnia-v12.2.0-beta.4-arm64-setup.exe or -arm64.msi.
  • Linux x64: .deb and .AppImage. Linux ARM64: Somnia-v12.2.0-beta.4-arm64.deb with apt on a compatible ARM64 system with the required GTK/WebKit libraries.

@philppplik philppplik released this 13 Oct 17:18

Somnia 12.2.0-beta.3 (pre-release)

Built from a fully green CI run (native, frontend, macOS, Windows, CLI) on commit 1c3b1b6.

What's new since beta.2

  • Fix: Vibe Space no longer fails with "stale owner" after an unclean exit. The runtime now takes over a stale lock once automatically, a failed open is no longer cached (Reload works), and the error message shows a clear reason without local paths.
  • The context chip next to Help is removed (the Studio pill in the middle stays). The matching "context chips" toggle in Settings is removed. Screen-reader announcement of the active context is kept.
  • Fix: somnia attach right after a detach no longer races.
  • Deploy, frameworks and the Somnia CLI remain experimental.

Installers

  • macOS: Somnia_12.2.0_aarch64.dmg (Apple Silicon only, ad-hoc signed, not notarized; right-click > Open on first launch).
  • Windows: .msi and setup.exe. Linux: .deb and .AppImage.
  • CLI archives (Linux x86_64, Windows x86_64) are attached (somnia-cli-*).
  • Verify downloads with SHA256SUMS.

Known issues

  • No Intel macOS build. No Windows ARM64 build yet (planned as an experimental extra).
  • Deploy, frameworks and CLI are experimental and may change.

v12.2.0-beta.1

v12.2.0-beta.1 Pre-release
Pre-release

Choose a tag to compare

@philppplik philppplik released this 13 Oct 12:53

Somnia v12.2.0-beta.1

Public beta, first build with a macOS installer. Windows, macOS and Linux. Same code as 12.2.0-alpha.7, with the version bumped to beta.

macOS

  • The macOS build is a .dmg. It is ad-hoc signed and not notarized. macOS will warn on first launch: right-click the app, choose Open, then confirm. Or run xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Somnia.app once.
  • The macOS native menu mirror is covered by unit tests only. Report anything odd in the menu bar.
  • The macOS installer is for Apple Silicon (arm64). There is no Intel Mac build yet.
  • This is the first macOS build of the 12.2 line. Expect rough edges and tell us what you hit.

What is in this build (from alpha.7)

  • Studio shell: declarative, per-studio panels and sidebars; menus, status bar and problems built from one source; the agent panel follows the active studio.
  • Commands and agents: typed parameter forms in the command palette and MCP approval, with the exact original JSON shown. Read and propose commands become agent and MCP tools; UI commands are never exposed.

Known limits

  • Import cycles between ES modules in the live preview are not supported.
  • Disk changes to text files that are not open do not trigger an automatic reload yet.
  • Media studios save as a copy with a native dialog per file.
  • Not notarized on macOS (see above).

Installers and SHA256SUMS below. Built from the green CI run on the tagged commit.

v12.2.0-alpha.7

v12.2.0-alpha.7 Pre-release
Pre-release

Choose a tag to compare

@philppplik philppplik released this 13 Oct 02:47

Somnia v12.2.0-alpha.7

Private alpha. Windows and Linux installers (macOS build intentionally skipped for alpha).

Studio shell

  • Panels and sidebars: the shell layout is now declarative and stored per studio. The sidebar can hold several panels that collapse, close and reorder. Studios that have not moved over keep their existing behavior.
  • Menus from one source: the Code studio menu bar is built from the shell manifest. Titles, shortcuts and enabled states follow the live command state.
  • Status bar and problems: the status bar is built from slots and problems come from registered providers. The Code studio looks and behaves as before.
  • Agent panel follows the studio: the shared agent panel adapts its context, quick actions and tool set to the active studio.
  • Keyboard shortcuts are bound at startup, so they work right after the page loads.

Commands and agents

  • Typed parameter forms: the command palette and MCP call approval show a form generated from the command's parameter schema, with validation and translations. MCP approvals also show the exact original JSON.
  • Commands as agent tools: read and propose commands become agent and MCP tools. UI commands are never exposed, the level is checked again on every call, and existing tools keep their names and grants.
  • The UI command inventory now covers 154 commands and the check fails on missing titles or translations in any language.
  • A web control hook for automated browser testing exists for development builds only. A release guard checks that production bundles do not contain it.

Known limits

  • Import cycles between ES modules in the live preview are not supported.
  • Disk changes to text files that are not open do not trigger an automatic reload yet.
  • Media studios save as a copy with a native dialog per file.
  • The macOS native menu mirror is covered by unit tests only and has not been tested on macOS.

Internal

  • Generated Dreamweaver parity checklist, overlay geometry oracle and a render determinism check in CI, stale shell snapshot baselines removed.

Installers and SHA256SUMS below. Built from the green CI run on the tagged commit.

v12.2.0-alpha.6

v12.2.0-alpha.6 Pre-release
Pre-release

Choose a tag to compare

@philppplik philppplik released this 12 Oct 22:11

Somnia v12.2.0-alpha.6

Private alpha. Windows and Linux installers (macOS build intentionally skipped for alpha).

Commands

  • One command layer for all studios: PDF, Raster, Vector, Sheets, Slides, Sound, Design, Core, collaboration and extension commands now register as typed command specs with validated parameters and permission levels. The command palette lists commands from the shared dispatcher and prompts for required parameters.
  • Studio shell v2 foundations (M0 and M1) and the Design Studio operations are exposed as commands.

Agent and MCP

  • Fixed the Tauri event payload handed to the studio MCP host and the inspect grant on the chosen document.
  • The MCP gateway and desktop host lifecycle are now tested in CI.

Known limits

  • Import cycles between ES modules in the live preview are not supported.
  • Disk changes to text files that are not open do not trigger an automatic reload yet.
  • Media studios save as a copy with a native dialog per file.

Internal

  • Dependency layer gate (dependency-cruiser) with a baseline, AGENTS.md, seeded property tests for source fidelity, raster and render golden harnesses (render goldens re-baselined on the CI runner), and a benchmark for undo history memory.

Installers and SHA256SUMS below. Built from the green CI run on the tagged commit.
