First release of Welsh (Cymraeg) language packages for Argos Translate / LibreTranslate.

Packages

  • translate-en_cy-1_0.argosmodel (78.9 MB) — English → Welsh
  • translate-cy_en-1_0.argosmodel (75.7 MB) — Welsh → English

Provenance
Converted from Helsinki-NLP's opus-mt-en-cy and opus-mt-cy-en models (CC-BY-4.0), packaged with the CTranslate2 / Locomotive pipeline and tested through argostranslate.

Test results

  • "Good morning, how are you?" → "bore da, sut ydych chi?"
  • "Bore da, sut wyt ti?" → "Good morning, how are you?"
  • "Mae Cymru yn wlad hardd." → "Wales is a beautiful country."

Full sentences translate cleanly in both directions. Very short fragments (a word or two, exclamations) can occasionally glitch — repeated or doubled words — which is small-model behavior, not a packaging bug.

Install
argospm install translate-en_cy / argospm install translate-cy_en once listed on the index, or argostranslate.package.install_from_path(...) with the files below.
