We are thrilled to announce phpBB Migration Center v1.0.0-beta.1! This milestone release introduces full-featured migration connectors for vBulletin 3.8 and vBulletin 4.2, advanced BBCode and quote transformation powered by phpBB's native s9e\TextFormatter, attachment and avatar pipelines, and major UI and progress-tracking refinements.

🌟 Highlights & What's New

1. 📦 Full Support for vBulletin 3.8 & vBulletin 4.2

  • Dedicated Source Providers: Distinct connectors for both vBulletin 3.8.x and vBulletin 4.2.x with auto-detection of version and database structure.
  • Auto-Config Detection: Automatic extraction of database credentials and table prefixes from includes/config.php.
  • vBulletin Password Compatibility: Transparent verification of legacy passwords (md5(md5(pass) . salt)), with automatic on-the-fly upgrade to phpBB’s modern hashing algorithm upon first login.
  • User Groups & Permissions: Complete translation of user groups, secondary memberships, forum categories, and permission masks.

2. 💬 Advanced BBCode & Native Quote Conversion

  • Native s9e\TextFormatter Storage: vBulletin quote tags ([QUOTE="User"], [QUOTE=User;123], [QUOTE], etc.) are now fully converted into phpBB 3.3 <r><QUOTE author="...">... XML storage format.
  • Automatic Metadata Calculation: Correct calculation and population of bbcode_uid and bbcode_bitfield for both posts and private messages.
  • Typography & Font Normalization: Mapped vBulletin numeric font sizes ([size=1] through [size=7]) to standard phpBB percentages (85% to 240%), sanitized non-standard font tags, and normalized code ([PHP], [CODE]) and media ([VIDEO]) blocks.

3. 📎 Post Attachments & Custom Avatars Pipeline

  • Dual-Schema vB Attachments:
    • Full support for vBulletin 3.8 single-table (attachment.filedata) binary blobs and filesystem files.
    • Full support for vBulletin 4.2 normalized (attachment + filedata) multi-attachment architecture.
  • File Hashing & Integrity: Safe hashing into phpBB's files/ directory with collision prevention and phpbb_attachments relational mapping.
  • Post & Topic Flags: Automatic synchronization of post_attachment = 1 and topic_attachment = 1.
  • Custom Avatars: Support for avatars stored in the database (customavatar) as well as filesystem uploads.

4. 📊 ACP UI & Progress Tracking Refinements

  • Fixed Premature 100% Progress Bar: Fixed a percentage rounding issue where high-volume stages (such as Posts) rounded 99.x% to 100% before intermediate stages finished. Overall progress is now strictly capped at 99% until the run is confirmed completed or finalized.
  • Real-Time Stage Indicator: Both the ACP progress banner and live AJAX/CLI polling now display an explicit Stage X of Y progress counter (e.g. Stage 8 of 15: Posts).

5. 🧪 Automated Testing & CI Compliance

  • All 18 CI Runner Tests Passing: Unit, regression, credential precedence, and integration tests pass cleanly on PHP 7.4 through PHP 8.3.
  • Strict Composer Validation: Fully compliant with composer validate --strict standards.
