v0.25.0

Choose a tag to compare

@tomgrek tomgrek released this 08 Oct 04:49

Adds physics_set_cast_prep: prepare every part in a Mesh scene for casting — chamfer outside edges, fillet inside corners and, for sand, bake draft in, reversibly. 232 tools.

v0.24.1

@tomgrek tomgrek released this 08 Oct 03:41

Document rubOutClearing (copper clearing) for circuit_mill_pcb.

0.24.0

@tomgrek tomgrek released this 25 Sep 05:03

Adds physics_get_edges and physics_round_edges: list a Mesh part's edges, and round (fillet) or bevel (chamfer) them — by id or by group (all outside edges, top, bottom, vertical, inside corners). The rounding is part of the body's boolean, so it collides, prints and machines rounded.

v0.23.0 — sculpt scissors

@tomgrek tomgrek released this 24 Sep 05:20

New tool: physics_sculpt_cut — cut a hole through a Mesh sculpt, or a piece off it. A polygon in the body's frame is swept straight through along a direction and taken out (or kept, with mode 'keep'); the cut is filled with new faces unless cap is false. A cut that splits the clay makes one body per piece and reports them in bodies. 229 tools.

Also includes 0.22.1 (etch_combine's join and unjoin ops), which was tagged but never released.

v0.22.0

@tomgrek tomgrek released this 23 Sep 04:31

Five new physics tools for Mesh breakage (set_constraint, set_impact, set_crumple, get_breaks, restore_break); physics_get_history gains since_time/last/stride/max_frames/bodies/include and returns at most 200 frames by default.

v0.21.4 — hollow shapes, told honestly

Choose a tag to compare

@tomgrek tomgrek released this 22 Sep 01:46

Mesh decomposes concave meshes into convex pieces now, so a cup holds what you drop into it. The bundled physics docs said the opposite — that a hollow shape can never be a container and agents should hand-build proxy walls out of primitives — which is now both wrong and worse than modelling the shape directly.

Docs only: no tool added, tool count unchanged, server untouched.

v0.21.3

Choose a tag to compare

@tomgrek tomgrek released this 21 Sep 03:53

Docs: physics_machine_resume_from_line and physics_machine_preview_resume now describe resuming a job that was interrupted by the browser going away — a closed tab, a sleeping laptop, a power cut.

Mesh checkpoints the program and the reached line as it streams, so the job is offered back on the next load. That kind of resume is flagged restored: the controller has been round a power cycle, so it is not homed, its tool is unknown, and the work must still be clamped exactly where it was. Home, confirm the work origin and re-zero Z before taking one.

v0.21.2 — designators, told to agents

Choose a tag to compare

@tomgrek tomgrek released this 20 Sep 05:28

Volt numbers every part it builds a board from — R, C, L, D for any diode, Q for any transistor, U for any IC — per letter, in creation order, and the board calls a part what the schematic calls it.

circuit.json now says which letter each type takes, that numbering is automatic, and that data.name is the override to leave alone unless the user asked for a specific designator.

v0.21.1 — named nets, told to agents

Choose a tag to compare

@tomgrek tomgrek released this 20 Sep 05:12

Volt gained net labels and power rails: a one-pin symbol carrying a name, where every pin under the same name is one net with no edge between them, and a rail that also drives its net against ground.

circuit.json now lists both types, their single 'in' terminal, the data each carries, and the fact that neither reaches the board — so an agent stops building supply rails out of wires. It stays byte for byte the copy Volt bundles.

v0.21.0 — three Etch generators an agent can drive

Choose a tag to compare

@tomgrek tomgrek released this 20 Sep 04:41

Three new Etch tools, taking the count to 223.

  • etch_make_living_hinge — rows of slits that let a flat sheet bend. The layout rules are why this is a tool rather than a few hundred etch_add_element calls: alternate rows must be offset half a period or the panel does not bend at all, and a slit reaching the edge of its region is a split the panel tears along on the first fold. Returns the tightest right-angle fold it will take.
  • etch_make_perforation — a field of holes for a grille, a vent or a diffuser. Returns the narrowest web, the material left between two neighbouring holes, which decides whether the panel survives being cut and is invisible in any of the settings that produced it.
  • etch_make_ornament — guilloche, a maze, an animal print or vine scrollwork, behind one kind. Settings are validated against that generator's own field list, so an option it does not have comes back naming the ones it does rather than being silently dropped.

All three accept their numbers as numeric strings as well as numbers, and each returns its drawing as one compound path element rather than hundreds.
