Kipimo 0.2.1

Choose a tag to compare

@piedol piedol released this 27 Oct 15:10

Kipimo 0.2.1 can update itself.

What's new

  • Updates from the menu. Choose Check for Updates… in the gear menu or the menu bar icon's menu, or let Kipimo check GitHub once a day (you can turn this off in Settings › General). When a new version is out, Kipimo shows a notification, and Install and Relaunch downloads it, checks its checksum and Apple's notarization, replaces Kipimo and reopens it.
  • German: the Full Disk Access note in Settings › General fits again.

New install

Kipimo-macOS-arm64.zip is for Macs with Apple silicon running macOS 15 or later. Unzip it and drag Kipimo into Applications. Install this version by hand once; later versions install from the menu.

Changes since 0.1.0

  • Kipimo follows your Mac's language. System Settings › General › Language & Region › Applications can give Kipimo a different language from the rest of the Mac.
  • Sizes and counts use your region's separators, such as "4,7 GB" and "1.234 files" in Germany.
  • Buttons, menus and banners widen to fit their text. In English, "Scan Again" on the Space page is no longer cut off.
  • Kipimo now takes 5.4 MB on disk, translations included.

Kipimo is free software under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later.

@piedol piedol released this 27 Oct 01:53

The first release of Kipimo, a system monitor and cleanup toolkit for the Mac menu bar.

Download

On first launch, allow notifications. If Settings › General says Kipimo can't read the Trash, click Open Full Disk Access… and turn Kipimo on. Kipimo needs Full Disk Access to measure the Trash and notice apps you drag into it.

What's in it

  • A menu bar panel with disk space, memory pressure, battery and power draw, CPU load and temperature, network speed and Bluetooth batteries.
  • Clean up finds caches, logs and developer files that apps recreate, and leaves risky items unticked.
  • Uninstall removes apps with the files they leave in your Library, including leftovers from apps you drag to the Trash.
  • Space shows what fills your disk, folder by folder.
  • Startup items lists what starts automatically and who signed it, with Ignore and Reinstall for flagged items.
  • Updates finds newer versions in each app's update feed and the App Store.
  • Everything Kipimo removes goes to the Trash, so Finder's Put Back can restore it.
  • About 9 MB of memory with the panel closed.

Kipimo is free software under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later.
