Introduction

DARE is a registration program for both schools in the Foothill-De Anza Community College District. It completely automates the course registration process, obviously aside from having to manually input the courses you want to register for.

Setup

You can download the latest version of DARE here.

Registration Flow

DARE will sign in to the registration portal and fetch the user's registration time. If the user runs the program prior to their registration time, the program will sleep until then. Otherwise, it will proceed as usual.

Once registration opens, it will do one pass through the provided courses and will attempt to register. It will report back the results.

Any courses that were successfully registered for or unable to be registered for (prerequisite issues, special sections, etc.) will be removed and no longer checked. This does not include courses that were full.

If the watch_for_open_seats setting is enabled and there are any full courses, then the program will continuously watch for open seats and automatically attempt to register if any courses open up.

Once all courses are exhausted or the watch_for_open_seats setting is disabled, the program will exit.

Background

DARE is inspired by Andrew Duong's Veil.

I initially started this project back in Fall 2024. I was learning C++ at the time and wanted to get used to the language and making projects. There were some issues present in Veil at the time, and it was lacking some features I thought would be useful, so I decided to create my own version.
