  • fix bug: a module symlinked into the watched tree after the watcher started never
reported another change. chokidar's fsevents backend installs a watcher only in
initWatch, and everything it discovers at runtime goes through
_addToFsEvents( .., forceAdd: true ), which scans the path once and skips that
call. for a plain directory it does not matter - the parent's fsevents stream is
recursive - but a symlink's target lives outside the watched tree, and the transform
that maps the target's events back onto the link's own path exists only on the
watcher initWatch would have created. so the link reported its initial contents
and then went silent: the target's edits still arrived, under the real path, which
is not what a bundle spec names. servebase hit this every time a frontend
dependency was added, since fedep runs on npm install and creates the link
while the dev server is up - the bundle went stale and stayed stale until the
process was restarted, with no error anywhere to say so. new symlinks are now added
again when one is seen, which takes the route that does call initWatch. both
addDir and change have to ask: fedep replaces a link with remove + symlink,
and depending on how fsevents coalesced that pair chokidar reports it as one or the
other, roughly half each. watching addDir alone left the second shape unrepaired,
which is what made the failure look intermittent rather than absolute. each link is
re-added once, and again only after an unlinkDir says it really went away: add on
a path that already has a watcher appends a second listener rather than replacing the
first, and these events arrive in bursts - one fedep run re-announces the same link
six times over. adding on every one of them piled up duplicate listeners for the rest
of the session, and a watcher in that state stopped reporting a linked module's
rebuilds after six to ten of them, which is how this was found.
  • a bundle source that is unreadable is now read once more, after waiting for it to
exist and hold its size, before the build gives up. every module's build script opens
with rm -rf dist, so a bundle built at that instant finds both of that source's
paths gone - roughly one rebuild in five, in practice. the guard added in v0.1.5 is
right to refuse a truncated bundle, but this is not a truncated bundle, it is one
read a few hundred ms too early. waiting for a stable size rather than merely
retrying matters: > creates the file before it has content, so a blind second read
can find it present and incomplete, which is the silent-loss bug v0.1.5 exists to
    prevent.
  • a source that is still missing after that wait, with nothing but ENOENT to show for
it, now reports in a single line naming the file and asking whether it is being
rebuilt, instead of a two-line failure plus a stack. the stack described this code,
never the cause, and an ERROR that fires during ordinary work is an ERROR developers
learn to scroll past. other read failures are unchanged.
  • bump version to 0.1.7
