[BUG]: Box/Lasso select stops working and makes page freeze after adjusting previously selected range

Description

The box/lasso select function stop working after adjusting previously selected range.

Steps to reproduce

• Go to this page: https://plotly.com/javascript/lasso-selection/
• Plat with the example, select Box select or Lasso select
• Select a range first, and then adjust the range again
• Open the devtool and you will see infinite logs coming out and will make the page freeze.

Note

The example uses plotly v3, I replaced it with v4, the issue persists.

Thanks for the report! I was able to reproduce this and that's definitely not supposed to happen. We'll add it to the backlog and try to get it fixed. If you have time to look into, we be happy to have the help.
