different behavior for `.show()` and `.write_image()` with `ticksuffix`/`tickprefix`

I noticied two different behavior while using (ticksuffix or tickprefix) and tickvals parameter to update an axis when I want to display or save the graph.

Plotly version : 5.22.0

Reproduction code :

fig = go.Figure(
    data=[go.Bar(x=[1,2], y=[2,3]),],
    layout=dict(xaxis=dict(tickvals=[1,2],tickprefix='a', ticksuffix='b'))
)
fig.show()
fig.write_image(f"graphs/test.png", format="png")

Retesting with the latest plotly==7.0.0 and kaleido==1.4.0 I see that both fig.show() and fig.write_image() ignore tickprefix/ticksuffix.

I suspect this is a bug which was presumably introduced around the time of plotly==5.22.0 / plotly.js v2.30 ish... maybe Kaleido was referencing a different plotly.js version than plotly.py and that's the cause of the difference you observed.

I also observed tickprefix/ticksuffix being ignored when looking at #4041.

edit: This seems to be a plotly.js regression, see plotly/plotly.js#8006
