Map Configuration
All the metrics that were selected in the form appear in this section. Metrics with no data will appear grey and will not be selectable. Each metric shows the number of stations with data for that metric. There are different display options for each metric and toggling between metrics will change the view.
Important note: for any changes to go into effect, you must press UPDATE
MUSTANGular displays data for a station using one value (See: Display Value). Each single channel value is calculated from all of a channel's measurements over the time range. Options in the dropdown menu are:
- maximum : highest measurement for the channel
- minimum : lowest measurement for the channel
- average : average of the measurements for the channel
- median : median of the measurements for the channel
- 5th_percentile : 5th percentile of the measurements for the channel
- 95th_percentile : 95th percentile of measurements for the channel
If true MUSTANGular will use the absolute value of the measurement data for the channel value calculation.
MUSTANGular displays data for a station using one value. There are two methods available: Possible values are:
- Channel Priority : shows a single channel, according to the channel priority set by the user
- Aggregate Channels : aggregates all channel values to a single value
This display value option shows a single channel. MUSTANGular will display data for a station using the first channel that has data, in order of the prioritized list. The channel priority can be changed by clicking the box under 'Display Single Channel'. This brings up a 'Channel Display Priority' selection tool that allows users to re-order the list of channels.
This display value option combines all of the co-located channel values into a single value. Options in the dropdown menu are:
- maximum : highest measurement for the channel
- minimum : lowest measurement for the channel
- most extreme : maximum value of the absolute values
The coloring of icons is determined by sorting all of the displayed values into bins. The upper and lower limits of binned values and the number of bins are selected by the user. To change the bins, select a min, max, and number of bins in the Binning options.
The bins are even in width and inclusive at the lower boundary and inclusive at the upper boundary. Any values that are outside of the limits of the bins are categorized as high or low outliers. For most metrics, the default values are 3 bins, min = 5th percentile of values, max = 95th percentile of values. Click here for more about default behavior.
The "reset" button will revert the bin values to the calculated default for the metric.
For example (number of bins = 2):
Low outliers: < min
Bin 1: min - < (max-min)/2
Bin 2: (max-min)/2 - max
High outliers: > max
To change the map coloring, select the Map Coloring dropdown. There are 10 available gradients to color the map markers with. Each gradient can be reversed by selecting "reverse".
Select the download icon to download the data as an xml, csv, text file, or json. Select share to copy the url to your clipboard. Select help to view information about how to use MUSTANGular.
