Map Configuration
All the metrics that were selected in the form appear in this section. Metrics with no data will appear grey and will not be selectable. Each metric shows the number of stations with data for that metric. There are different display options for each metric and toggling between metrics will change the view.
Important note: for any changes to go into effect, you must press UPDATE
The display channel is selected based on the user's prioritization of the channels. MUSTANGular will display data for a station using the first channel, in order of the prioritized list, that has data.
To change the priority, click on the region containing the list of channels under Channel priority. This will open a popup that allows the user to drag and drop channels into the preferred order. Select done to save the channels and UPDATE to update the map.
MUSTANGular displays data for a station using one channel at a time. (See: Channel Priority) The display value indicates what value is shown for the station. To change the value, select the dropdown under Value. The default value is average.
Possible values are:
maximum : highest measurement for the channel
minimum : lowest measurement for the channel
average : average of the measurements for the channel
median : median of the measurements for the channel
5th_percentile : 5th percentile of the measurements for the channel
95th_percentile : 95th percentile of measurements for the channel
The coloring of icons is determined by sorting all of the displayed values into bins. The upper and lower limits of binned values and the number of bins are selected by the user. To change the bins, select a min, max, and number of bins in the Binning options.
The bins are even in width and inclusive at the lower boundary and inclusive at the upper boundary. Any values that are outside of the limits of the bins are categorized as high or low outliers. For most metrics, the default values are 3 bins, min = 5th percentile of values, max = 95th percentile of values. Click here for more about default behavior.
For example (number of bins = 2):
- Low outliers: < min
- Bin 1: min - < (max-min)/2
- Bin 2: (max-min)/2 - max
- High outliers: > max
To change the map coloring, select the Map Coloring dropdown. There are 10 available gradients to color the map markers with. Each gradient can be reversed by selecting "reverse".
Select the download icon to download the data as an xml, csv, text file, or json. Select share to copy the url to your clipboard. Select help to view information about how to use MUSTANGular.
