Bug Fixes

  • Match bare file names and globs in poly test run --files (#361, 0d1dfe8)

Summary

poly test run --files now accepts bare file names, paths with or without the test_suite/ prefix, and globs. --files and --tag now fail with a clear error when any entry matches no test, instead of silently skipping it.

Motivation

--files only matched the exact path relative to the project root (test_suite/greeting_flow_test.yaml). Passing just the file name, which is what most people type, found nothing and reported "No tests found". Separately, if one of several --files or --tag entries matched nothing, it was dropped without a word, so a typo could quietly shrink a run.

Changes

  • Each --files entry is matched against the end of a test's path, so greeting_flow_test.yaml, greeting_flow_test, ./test_suite/greeting_flow_test.yaml and an absolute path inside the project all select the same test. Globs such as "booking_*" also work. A file name under the wrong directory still doesn't match. - If any --files or --tag entry matches no test, resolve_tests raises a ValueError naming the entries that didn't match. - Updated the poly test run help text, docs/docs/reference/cli/test.md and the poly-adk-testing skill.

Test strategy

  • Added/updated unit tests - [x] Manual CLI testing (poly <command>) - [x] Tested against a live Agent Studio project - [ ] N/A (docs, config, or trivial change)

New cases in ResolveTestsTest cover bare names with and without .yaml, ./-prefixed and absolute paths, globs, the wrong directory, and partly unmatched files and tags.

Checklist

  • ruff check . and ruff format --check . pass - [x] pytest passes - [x] No breaking changes to the poly CLI interface (or migration path documented) - [x] PR title follows conventional commits, and its type matches the change (feat: for anything user-visible; see CONTRIBUTING.md) - [x] User-facing changes are reflected in docs/docs/, src/poly/docs/ (resource shapes) and skills/

Features

  • Include the follow-up command in poly test run --json output (#362, 92039d1)

Summary

poly test run --json now includes a next_command field with the poly test show command to check on the run it just triggered. The docs and the testing skill now say that --json returns immediately and never polls.

Motivation

poly test run --json returns as soon as the run is triggered, with status pending. The docs said the CLI polls after triggering and made no exception for --json, so callers expected to get final results.

Returning straight away is the right behaviour for --json. Its callers are mostly agents and scripts, and a run can take several minutes, longer than a typical agent's shell timeout. What was missing was saying so, and telling the caller how to follow up.

Changes

  • poly test run --json output gains next_command, e.g. poly test show <run_id> --json. It includes --path when the project isn't in the current directory, and quotes paths that contain spaces. - The plain-text --dont-poll hint uses the same command, so it also includes --path when it's needed. - The --dont-poll help text notes that --json never polls. - docs/docs/reference/cli/test.md explains that --json doesn't poll and how to poll with next_command, and the JSON example includes status and next_command. The poly-adk-testing skill has the same note.

Test strategy

  • Added/updated unit tests - [ ] Manual CLI testing (poly <command>) - [ ] Tested against a live Agent Studio project - [ ] N/A (docs, config, or trivial change)

New TestRunJsonTest cases check that --json doesn't poll, that next_command is correct, and that --path is kept and quoted.
