v0.8.1 - Faster TUI Boot and Import Wizard Polish

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 05 Sep 11:57

v0.8.1 Release Notes

Release title: v0.8.1 - Faster TUI Boot and Import Wizard Polish

Summary

v0.8.1 is a patch on the v0.8.0 loop. gandalf tui now paints Changes-First Home in tens of milliseconds instead of more than a second, and the import wizard gets a responsive preview, overwrite confirmation, and UI polish.

Highlights

  • Faster TUI boot: Home no longer captures current skill file bodies, walks Codex ~/.codex/plugins/cache as skills, or waits on full snapshot JSON. One scan feeds baseline status; Timeline and Saves load after Home is ready.
  • Measured: full TUI boot replica on this machine (gandalf repo + real ~/.gandalf) went from 1.640s to 50ms.
  • Compatible drift: older snapshots that still contain plugin-cache skills do not show phantom removals. Installed Codex plugins from config.toml still appear as drift.
  • Import wizard polish: responsive preview pane, overwrite confirmation modal, and tighter TUI layout for gandalf import.

Release Validation

  • go test -count=1 ./...
  • go vet ./...
  • GoReleaser multi-architecture darwin/linux binaries and Homebrew formula.

v0.8.0 - Import Wizard, Cursor, and CI Drift Gate

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 04 Sep 07:45

v0.8.0 Release Notes

Release title: v0.8.0 - Import Wizard, Cursor, and CI Drift Gate

Summary

v0.8.0 closes the Agent Environment as Code loop. Teams can reverse-generate gandalf.toml from existing Claude Code, Cursor, and Codex setups, catch project-level drift in GitHub Actions, and treat Cursor as a first-class supported agent alongside Claude Code and Codex.

Highlights

  • gandalf import: Reverse-engineers native agent configs (.mcp.json, .cursor/mcp.json, Codex config.toml, skill directories) into a canonical gandalf.toml, with project-over-global precedence and atomic skill mirroring into .gandalf/skills/.
  • Secret templatization: Detected API keys, tokens, and connection strings are rewritten as ${ENV_VAR} and declared in [env_template] so credentials never land in git-tracked manifests.
  • Interactive import wizard: On a TTY, gandalf import opens a Bubbletea TUI to group sources by agent, toggle servers/skills, preview a masked manifest, and confirm overwrite. --json, --dry-run, and piped I/O stay headless.
  • Safe CLI modes: --project-only, --from <path>, --dry-run, --force, and --json cover automation and CI without writing unexpected files.
  • gandalf-check GitHub Action: Packaged CI drift gate that runs project-level gandalf check so pull requests can fail when agent environments diverge from the team manifest.
  • Cursor as a supported surface: Scan, check, apply, and restore now treat Cursor as a product-visible agent, not a compatibility leftover.
  • Landing & monorepo: Turborepo + Bun workspaces for the Go CLI, Astro landing site, and Mintlify docs, with an authentic xterm.js manifesto terminal on the site.

Release Validation

  • go test -count=1 ./...
  • go vet ./...
  • Opaque-box E2E suite go test -count=1 ./test/e2e/import/... (Tiers 1–4)
  • Isolated smoke: gandalf import --dry-run, overwrite guard, and gandalf check --project-only
  • GoReleaser multi-architecture darwin/linux binaries and Homebrew formula.

v0.6.0 - Trust-Visible TUI

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 19 Jul 14:20

v0.6.0 Release Notes

Release title: v0.6.0 - Trust-Visible TUI

Summary

v0.6.0 rebuilds Gandalf's terminal workspace around visible safety guarantees.
The TUI now has one consistent navigation grammar, exposes the actual mutation
capability of setup rows, and routes every write through the same Review
Changes boundary.

Highlights

  • Five fixed destinations — Home, Console, Changes, Timeline, and Saves — are
reachable through a persistent responsive sidebar and global 1–5 keys.
  • A complete ? keymap, symmetric navigation, and esc-to-Home behavior
replace unreachable screens and case-sensitive jump shortcuts.
  • Console and Changes rows show provider-derived [reviewable],
[restore-only], or [read-only] capability badges with concrete reasons.
  • Setup actions, MCP toggles, marketplace installs and rollback, saves, and
restore operations all require the unified Review Changes confirmation.
  • User-facing TUI copy consistently uses Save/Saves while preserving existing
CLI commands and on-disk snapshot compatibility.
  • Feedback now uses one frame-level status channel visible from every
    destination.
  • Shared style tokens and responsive row rendering keep trust signals legible
on both wide and narrow terminals.
  • Dead Agent Detail, Compare, and standalone Save Setup render paths were
    removed.

Release Validation

  • go test -count=1 ./...
  • go vet ./...
  • ./scripts/gate2-console-acceptance.sh
  • ./scripts/changes-home-acceptance.sh
  • ./scripts/restore-safety-regression.sh
  • ./scripts/install-smoke.sh
  • git diff --check
  • Go formatting check for internal/tui.
  • GoReleaser configuration and release assets through GitHub Actions.

v0.5.1

Choose a tag to compare

@ponycompute ponycompute released this 14 Jul 12:06

v0.5.1 Release Notes

Release title: v0.5.1 - Safer Setup Actions and Changes-First Navigation

Summary

v0.5.1 strengthens the local control console's setup and recovery flows. It
removes flaky and cache-dependent verification paths, keeps Changes-first and
Environment navigation visible while scrolling, and adds the first concrete
provider-backed marketplace mutation for Claude Code.

Highlights

  • Deterministic date handling for TUI tests and uncached verification gates.
  • Changes-first Home acceptance coverage for baseline creation, drift review,
    rollback, and narrow terminals.
  • Restore plans no longer report MCP removals separately when a content-backed
agent config restore already covers them.
  • Claude Code marketplace plugins can be previewed, revalidated from a fresh
scan, installed through the native provider, rescanned, and verified.
  • A verified Claude Code marketplace install can be rolled back with the exact
compensating provider command; unsupported update/uninstall paths remain
explicit rather than pretending to be available.
  • Environment Agents and Surfaces lists keep the selected row visible while
    navigating through long lists.

Release Validation

  • go test -count=1 ./...
  • make restore-safety
  • make gate2
  • make changes-home
  • ./scripts/install-smoke.sh
  • GoReleaser configuration check through CI.
  • GitHub release assets for darwin/linux amd64 and arm64 plus checksums.

v0.5.0

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 29 Jun 18:41

v0.5.0 Release Notes

Release title: v0.5.0 - Local Control Console and Reviewed Actions

Summary

v0.5.0 moves Gandalf from restore-first tooling toward the current product contract: a local control console for Codex and Claude Code user-global setup. It includes the recent setup-console work, aligns public product language, splits restore safety from Gate 2 setup-console acceptance, and adds the first marketplace-originated Review Action.

Highlights

  • Compact setup browsing from PR #18.
  • TUI control workspace from PR #19.
  • Product contract alignment from PR #20.
  • Gate 2 now means Unified Agent Setup Console acceptance.
  • Restore safety remains covered by a separate restore-safety regression.
  • Marketplace/source entries can start an honest non-mutating Review Action when provider metadata is sufficient.

Current Boundary

Supported product surface:

  • Codex and Claude Code user-global setup.
  • Installed inventory for skills, hooks, MCP servers, plugins, and agent-native marketplace/source entries.
  • Review Changes before restore-backed applies or provider-backed setup actions.
  • GitHub Releases, install.sh, Homebrew, and source builds.

Still future or out of scope:

  • Gandalf-owned marketplace/catalog/trust registry.
  • Marketplace install, update, uninstall, add-source, or remove-source without a concrete provider-backed mutation path.
  • Cursor, OpenCode, Pi Agent, project-local setup management, desktop launch, profiles, cloud sync, or team profiles as current product surfaces.

Release Validation Checklist

  • go test ./...
  • ./scripts/install-smoke.sh
  • make restore-safety
  • make gate2
  • GoReleaser config check through CI.
  • GitHub release assets for darwin/linux amd64/arm64 plus checksums.txt.
  • Homebrew tap formula generated in qyinm/homebrew-tap.
  • Latest install.sh path resolves the v0.5.0 binary.

Public GitHub Metadata Target

  • Description: Local control console for AI agent setup.
  • Remove topic: typescript
  • Candidate topics: go, tui, cli, mcp, developer-tools, ai-agents, agent-tools, agent-management, drift-detection, security-audit
