Cosmic Dock unresponsive at 125% or 175% scaling

Describe the bug
After updating Pop!_OS 24.04 LTS using sudo nala upgrade, the bottom dock (Cosmic Dock) appears but does not respond to any interaction. Clicking on application icons or right-clicking does nothing. The dock looks normal but is completely unresponsive.

To Reproduce

1. Run sudo nala upgrade on Pop!_OS 24.04.
2. Reboot the system.
3. Log into the COSMIC desktop environment.
4. Observe that the dock appears but is not functional (no response to clicks or hover actions).

Expected behavior
The dock should be interactive — allowing users to open applications, view running apps, and access context menus.

Desktop (please complete the following information):

• DE: COSMIC

• The issue started immediately after the system update.
• I have not reinstalled any packages.
• The dock appears on screen but does not respond to input.
• The problem persists after multiple reboots.

Follow-up:
After more testing, I found that the issue occurs only when the display scale is set to 125%.
At 100% and 150%, the dock works normally.

This suggests the problem is specifically related to the 125% fractional scaling setting in COSMIC Dock — possibly an issue with input mapping or rendering at that scale.

I have the same problem with the Panel with App Tray applet. Same in all three positions.

Same with Panel at top and bottom of the screen.

Works fine at 100% and 150%

It seems it's a problem with most apps chrome. It seems to enter some kind of resizing mode, in the text editor for example. the resize handles appear for nested elements like tabs. Pressing Escape exits the mode.

So if the Panel icons stop working, pressing escape exits the "resize/move" mode, and the icons become interactable, but some applets don't change the cursor from a pointer to a hand, but remain clickable.

Edit:

It seems the problem is much deeper, problems all UX elements registration and responses to input. Cursor doesn't change, can't click on apps, can't interact with windows. And seemingly it gets worse with time. Restart fixes things temporarily.

Same issue here. My display was set at 120% scaling when this occurred after today's update. For me the dock was partially unresponsive, with some shortcuts working and some not (same after restart). I have not tried changing scaling when the dock was visible, but after turning off the dock via desktop settings I cannot turn it back on at any resolution scaling. I have a 2560x1600 display. I guess will have to work without a dock until this gets fixed.

Update:

After changing the "Show on display" setting from eDP1 to All Displays, the dock reappeared and is working as expected at 100% scaling, but not at 125% as previously posted, nor with any non-0 "Additional scale option" setting.

Seems like there are problems with registration of elements, can't click on windows, cursor not detected, things perhaps stuck in the wrong window mode, can't raise windows.

Alt - Tab only way to switch windows. I then have to press Escape to interact with a window.

In my case it also applies to the panel applet.

I am on 175% scaling. Both 125% and 175% cause this issue.

Hi all, I did some investigation since it was annoying me :) I normally run at 120% scale and for whatever reason started to hit this quite often with beta3.

From what I gathered so far, I think it's a bug in the communication between cosmic-panel and cosmic-comp components.

From my (limited) understanding, when scale != 1.0 or when the scale rounding is not a perfect division (e.g. things seem to work for me at 1.5, 2.0, but not at 1.25, 1.20, 1.75, ...), I think some calculations about the surfaces are different between the two components, so cosmic-panel starts spamming cosmic-comp to reposition the popups (IIRC some people reported high CPU usage in related issues), even though nothing changes.
It seems even at fractional scales, the bug is intermittent, sometimes 1.75 would work for 5-10m before showing even 1 instance of the bug. I can reproduce it consistently at 1.05 scale.
I tried to iterate a bit with Copilot but didn't really reach a solution, only managed to break the infinite loop but then popups wouldn't show.

After chatting with the devs, it seems this was an issue with cosmic-applets using an older libcosmic library version. For me using the git/master version of cosmic-applets resolved the issue.
