MWC Localization Core Wiki

MWC Localization Core is an MSCLoader plugin for My Winter Car that turns the game's English text into your language without touching any game code. As a translator, you write a few plain .txt files and optionally ship a fonts.unity3d asset bundle; the plugin handles the rest at runtime.

This wiki is written for translators and language-pack creators. If you only want to play the game in a localized language, the relevant download is on NexusMods — you do not need any of this.

New to the plugin? Read Quick Start first. It walks you from "I have the template files" to "the first line is translated in-game" in roughly ten minutes.

What the plugin can do

  • Automatic translation — scans every TextMesh in every scene and substitutes translations from your dictionary.
  • Configurable fonts — map each original game font to a custom font asset for proper non-Latin rendering (Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Cyrillic, etc.).
  • Per-path text adjustments — nudge position, size, line spacing, or width for individual UI elements when translated text doesn't fit.
  • Texture replacement — swap images that have text baked in (driver's licence, rally card, signs, overlays) for localized PNGs.
  • Live reload — press F8 in-game to reload every translation file and font mapping without restarting.
  • Magazine and teletext support — special handling for the classifieds magazine and TV teletext pages, which the game otherwise overwrites every frame.
  • My Summer Car compatibility — re-use your existing MSC translation file as a base, then override anything MWC-specific.
  • Mod content slot — keep mod-specific lines in a separate file so they don't clutter the main translation.
