translate teletext txt
The in-game TV's teletext pages (news, weather, recipes, quotes, sports) and the live chat overlay are populated by PlayMaker FSMs that rebuild the on-screen text every time the page or message changes. Translating those through the normal translate.txt flow doesn't work — the game overwrites it the next frame.
translate_teletext.txt is read by a dedicated FSM hook that injects translations at the right point in the game's own pipeline, so they stick.
Important
Order and [CATEGORY] headers matter in this file. The plugin keys some translations by their position inside a section (especially the news headlines). Do not reorder entries, and do not add or remove sections. Translate in place.
The file is divided into [section] blocks. Inside each block, you have:
-
Single-line entries, same
KEY = valueformat as translate.txt — comments start with#, multi-line\nworks the same. -
Multi-line entries, where both source and translation span several lines, separated by a line containing only
=.
A short single-line block:
[day]
MAANANTAI = 월요일
TIISTAI = 화요일
KESKIVIIKKO = 수요일
TORSTAI = 목요일
PERJANTAI = 금요일
LAUANTAI = 토요일
SUNNUNTAI = 일요일A multi-line news headline:
VIRON SOTAUHKAUS AIHEETON
Vuorokauden ajan jännitteitä nostanut
sotauhkaus on vedetty takaisin.
Viro uhkasi sekä Suomea että Venäjää
sodalla, mikäli vaatimuksiin ei suos-
tuttaisi.
=
Blank lines separate one multi-line entry from the next. The = line in the middle separates the source block from the translation block.

[kotimaa] |
Domestic news headlines, in display order. |
[urheilu] |

[talous] |

[ajatus] |
Quote-of-the-day pages. |
[kulttuuri] |

[Chat.Day.Days] |
Day-of-week names used in the TV chat overlay. (Separate from [day] because the chat FSM reads from its own list.) |
[ChatMessages.All] |
Every chat message line. The game cycles through these as the TV chat scrolls. |
These are the only sections the plugin recognizes. Don't invent new ones.
If the plugin looks up a string and doesn't find it in this file, it falls back to the global dictionary built from translate.txt, translate_msc.txt, and translate_mod.txt. This means you don't have to duplicate shared phrases — translating MONDAY once in translate.txt is enough to cover most contexts where it appears, even if it shows up on a teletext page.
The teletext file is for the lines that exist only on the teletext or chat surfaces, plus anything where ordering inside a category matters.
The [fsm] section includes a special pattern entry for the temperature:
pakkasta {0} astetta = 영하 {0} 도{0} is a placeholder the game fills with a number at runtime. Keep the placeholder, move it inside the sentence to fit your language. See Translation Patterns.
A small handful of teletext lines genuinely cannot be translated — the game re-writes them after the plugin has done its pass. This is a known limitation and is documented on the NexusMods page. Most lines do translate cleanly.
Save the file and press F8 in-world.
