  • Support password-protected OTA uploads, including HEX uploads.

Improved

  • OTA password prompts can be prefilled from ArduinoOTA.setPassword() in the sketch.

Arduino Editor 1.0.4

Choose a tag to compare

@ppet36 ppet36 released this 03 Apr 05:17

Arduino Editor 1.0.4

Added

  • Added HEX file upload from the UI via arduino-cli, including proper use of the selected board, serial port and optional programmer.
  • Added support for using Codex CLI and Claude CLI as AI chat providers, alongside the existing HTTP API integration.
  • Added board platform examples to the Examples browser, including examples bundled with the selected core/platform.
  • Added an Installed version column to both the Library Manager and Boards Manager for easier update comparison.

Improved

  • Improved handling of files changed outside Arduino Editor. Open editors can now detect external modifications or deletions, reload from disk, or keep the in-memory buffer when appropriate.
  • Improved editor usability by hiding hover tooltips while the mouse is active, reducing visual interference during navigation and context-menu use.
  • Improved AI prompt handling and model configuration for the updated chat integrations.

Fixed

  • Fixed selected serial port handling so the active port is restored and applied correctly.
  • Fixed a SIGSEGV issue in the code-completion/clang-related flow.

Arduino Editor 1.0.3

@ppet36 ppet36 released this 17 Jan 14:05

Arduino Editor 1.0.3

Serial Monitor

  • Added a dedicated Reset button to restart the connected board directly from the Serial Monitor.
  • Added auto-detection of the serial baud rate from the sketch for the Serial Monitor.
  • Added an optional Serial Values view that extracts and displays parsed values from the serial output.
  • Added hexadecimal output mode, optionally including an ASCII representation.

Library & Boards Manager

  • Switched update checks for libraries and board packages to arduino-cli (indexes are refreshed periodically; updates are checked on startup).

macOS

  • Hidden the system Services menu on macOS to avoid crashes.

AI

  • Improved iterative AI actions: generated patches are now applied in-memory first, then validated by diagnostics before being offered. If diagnostics report issues, the AI is prompted to fix the errors automatically (applies to iterative flows like Chat, Fix errors and Optimize function/method).

Arduino Editor 1.0.2

@ppet36 ppet36 released this 10 Jan 22:27

Arduino Editor 1.0.2

Added

  • Added Single Window Mode: when enabled, opening a sketch reuses the current window and closes the currently open sketch. When disabled, each sketch opens in a new editor window (like Arduino IDE).
  • Added update checks for libraries and board toolchains/cores. The check interval can be configured in Settings. The check refreshes indexes and detects whether installed libraries/cores are up to date. From the status bar context menu, you can open the Library/Boards Manager and update available items.
  • Added a Symbol/Class Browser: a separate AUI pane that shows the code structure of the currently active editor.
  • Added an optional post-build resource usage info dialog shown after a successful compile.
  • Improved the Serial Monitor with a "sticky" log and automatic auto-scroll toggling (auto-scroll disables when you scroll up, and re-enables when you return to the bottom).
  • Added a Plot/Chart View that graphs variable values automatically parsed from Serial output. Supports name=value, name: value, name value, and multiple variables per line. It also supports CSV style output with optional headers.
Arduino Editor – Chart View

Fixed

  • Fixed an initialization issue that could occur when opening a sketch with no development board configured (previously noted as a known issue in 1.0.1).

Arduino Editor 1.0.1

⚠️ Known issue
When opening a sketch with no development board configured, the application may not initialize correctly.
In this case, please close and restart the application to restore full functionality.

This release focuses on polish, usability improvements, and better integration with the toolchain.
No breaking changes.

Changes & Improvements

  • General

    • Many fixes, refinements, and performance optimizations across the codebase.
    • Improved initial board selection logic for sketches that have not been opened yet.
    • Improved first-run installation experience on completely clean systems.
  • Clang / Diagnostics

    • System and toolchain include paths are now passed to Clang as -isystem, significantly reducing noise from warnings originating in toolchains and libraries.
    • Added support for custom Clang warning flags (-Wxxx), configurable directly in the settings dialog.
    • Compilation errors reported by arduino-cli are now parsed and displayed in the standard Diagnostics view, shown in a non-modal dialog for smoother workflow.
  • Editor & Navigation

    • Added Go to Line navigation.
    • Improved performance and keyboard usability of the Symbol Search dialog, which is now fully operable using the keyboard.
  • AI Integration

    • Added the ability to switch AI models directly in the chat UI.
