Upgrade Notes

  • Icarus now requires hexo-component-inferno 4.1.0 or later. Sites that install Icarus from npm get it automatically. Sites that cloned the theme into themes/icarus must run the install command printed by the dependency check, for example npm install --save hexo-component-inferno@^4.1.0 48cced0 f41df7f
  • Focusing the search button no longer opens the search; clicking it, or pressing Enter or Space on it, does #1054
  • These only affect sites that override the theme's templates or scripts:
    • layout/misc/paginator.jsx is removed; the layouts use the paginator of hexo-component-inferno again 48cced0
    • The PJAX selectors in source/js/pjax.js changed: head, #comments link and #comments script are no longer switched 92378ef

New Features

  • Dark appearance: appearance: auto follows the visitor's system setting and appearance: dark is always dark. It can also be set per page or per layout, and comes with article.highlight.dark_theme and logo_dark #1108 5e9ef7b c48948b 1df39a6
  • Navbar sub-menus: a menu item can be a group of links #1250 #666
  • Fold the navbar menu into a drop-down when it does not fit, e.g. on phones #1317
  • Artalk, Beaudar and Cusdis comment plugins #1080 #1350
  • Comment plugins follow the dark appearance; Giscus and Utterances have new dark theme options #1108
  • Umami and Matomo analytics plugins #1052
  • waline_pageview plugin to show Waline page views in the article metadata #1198 #1039
  • providers.cdn_overrides to load some packages from another CDN or URL #1035
  • amount option and a "More" link for the archives and categories widgets #990
  • Open the search with /, Ctrl+K or Cmd+K #1054
  • widgets: null disables all widgets, also in layout configuration files #1253

Improvements

  • Upgrade hexo-component-inferno to 4.1.0; Hexo 8 sites no longer install a nested Hexo 7 48cced0 f41df7f
  • Comment plugins load their scripts asynchronously and no longer block the widgets after them #1264
  • Keep the active table of contents entry in view when the TOC can scroll #835
  • Only show the copy button of a code block while it is hovered or focused, on devices with a mouse #829
  • Keyboard access to the search: Esc closes it and returns focus, and Tab from the top of the page reaches the article
  • Warn when the Valine comment plugin is used, because it exposes commenters' email addresses (and IP addresses with record_ip) #788

Bug Fixes

  • Fix the dependency check crashing with "Cannot find module 'semver'" on fresh installs #1340
  • Fix PJAX falling back to full page reloads between pages with and without comments 92378ef
  • Fix comment plugins not re-initialising after PJAX navigation, and Artalk showing the previous page's comments f41df7f
