Are you able to test on windows? It's hard to even give advice on windows because the drivers could be at fault (or literally anything else). |

So recently, I came back to osu! and migrated to Lazer. I'm trying to recreate my old settings playing at a 900p render resolution natively on a 1080p display (to make the gameplay area smaller and compensate for a huge monitor). I found out that changing the screen scaling to "gameplay" slightly decreases my FPS, and changing screen scaling to "everything" tanks my FPS by a huge margin.
Here's the video proof (both recorded with GPU hardware encoder).
Screen scaling off:

Screen scaling everything:

As you can see, with it turned off, I'm able to consistently exceed 500 FPS, whereas the other options struggle to hit 400 FPS. On osu!stable lowering resolution slightly boost fps.
