Remapping § key to backtick ` on Karabiner V12.10.0?

Hello! does anyone know how to remap the § key (under the escape key) to a backtick ` ? I tried using Karabiner but to no avail. It did not seem to work. I have a non-apple keyboard, so that's why I have this issue
I was just wondering if it's possible to remap the keyboard
I tried changing the input settings, like the language stuff but it didn't seem to work because when the backtick was available, another key wasn't that i need for programming.

I have a macbook air m1 and this doesn't work on the built in keyboard either. I've tried on an intel mac though and it works.

As a workaround I found that if I bind backtick to non_us_backslash it works the opposite way and that does the trick for now

1. Find the keycodes/names of the keys you want to remap/swap using EventViewer (§ & backtick).
2. Swap them using Simple modifications in Karabiner-Elements.

For example, for swapping non_us_backslash and grave_accent_and_tilde, add 2 modifications in Simple modifications -
1. from non_us_backslash to grave_accent_and_tilde.
2. from grave_accent_and_tilde to non_us_backslash.

I am struggling with this too. With mapping:

I am able to use backtick/tilde on § button. But I am unable to add mirror mapping, because when I add it, mappings don't work - Karabiner EventViewer shows proper codes (like codes were remapped), but actual input is not changed, so when I want to type backtick, I type §.

I still see the same problem on MBP M1. When I map grave_accent_and_tilde to non_us_backlash, both keys work as `, but when I add the reverse key codes seems to be correct, even apple's keyboard viewer shows correct key presses, but actual apps receive unmodified characters.

Swapping around the order fixed it for me.

old:
grave_accent_and_tilde -> non_us_backslash

new:
non_us_backslash -> grave_accent_and_tilde

Optionally: you can add the reverse rule as well. For example: if you also need the "paragraph" character.

new:
non_us_backslash -> grave_accent_and_tilde
grave_accent_and_tilde -> non_us_backslash

I set the virtual keyboard setting to ANSI (North America, most of Asia and others), despite having a EN/GB primary keyboard and Spanish Latina America external keyboard and this seems to have fixed it without the need for the custom rules suggested in #2985 (comment).

This issue is so widespread that it seems like it would need better documentation and communication, but I am not sure where this could go.

Setting Karabiner-Elements Settings / Virtual Keyboard to ANSI (North America, most of Asia and others) fixes the `⇌§ and ~⇌± swapping on an ISO, EN/GB UK internal keyboard set to British input source on a 15" M3 Macbook Air. This apparently has all keys mapping correctly.

This is clearly a bug that has apparently been causing confusion for years, although I have only experienced the swapping issue since a relatively recent update.

I would also like to request the backtick key in ISO keyboards to type a backtick instead of a § without a modification. Thanks for considering.

This is what worked for me, modify ~/.config/karabiner/karabiner.json

You can either set the keyboard to ansi
