@pr0m1th3as pr0m1th3as released this 14 Oct 14:50

The catalogues now come as tables. A catalogue is searched by its columns, as B(B.d == 25 & B.C > 10000, :), and each variable carries its unit and description, which summary lists. This breaks code written for 0.1.0, which returned struct arrays. The package now requires datatypes 1.5.0.

New

  • Units and descriptions. Each variable keeps the standard's symbol as its name, such as d, C0 or dk, with its unit and what it means.
  • Lengths in the data. parts.dowel and parts.key take a length with 'data', as parts.dowel ('data', 6, 30).
  • Article numbers. parts.insert.heatset gives ruthex's article numbers.

Backwards incompatible improvements

  • Tables, not struct arrays. 'data' returns a table in every part function, and parts.material returns one. Text variables are cell arrays of character vectors.
  • One row per length. parts.dowel and parts.key give a row for each length, where 0.1.0 gave one entry per size with its lengths as a vector.
  • One row per maker. parts.insert.heatset gives a row for each insert and maker, each with that maker's own values, where 0.1.0 merged them; makers is now maker.
  • One row per section range. parts.material gives a row for each material and range of section sizes, so parts.material ('C45') returns all three ranges of C45; a value the source does not give is NaN, where it was empty.

@pr0m1th3as pr0m1th3as released this 14 Oct 10:35

The first release of the parts package: standard machine parts for GNU Octave, each given as catalogue data for a calculation and as a solid for an assembly, every value cited to the maker's catalogue or the part's standard.

New

  • One calling pattern. Every function takes 'data', for the catalogue's entries, or 'solid', for a solid.Shape of the part. A solid is plain by default and takes its finer form with 'Detailed', true, threads included.
  • Bearings. parts.bearing.deepgroove: single row deep groove ball bearings of the series 618, 619, 60 and 62, bores 4 to 380 mm, with SKF's load ratings, speeds and masses.
  • Screws. parts.screw.cap, lowcap, countersunk, raisedcountersunk, button, pan, cheese, hex, shoulder and set, to their ISO and DIN standards, in every drive their heads come with: hexagon socket, hexalobular, slot, and cross recess H and Z. REYHER's articles as data, any length, pitch or thread length as a solid.
  • Nuts. parts.nut.hex: regular, thin and nylon insert locknuts, coarse and fine. parts.nut.flange: flange nuts, plain or locking, ISO and EN.
  • Washers and rings. parts.washer.plain: the normal, chamfered, small and large series. parts.ring.retaining: retaining rings for shafts and bores, normal and heavy, with the groove each needs.
  • Heat-set inserts. parts.insert.heatset: the 16 metric inserts ruthex and CNC Kitchen sell, M2 to M10, with the hole, depth and wall each needs.
  • Pins and keys. parts.dowel: hardened parallel pins, ISO 8734, 1 to 20 mm. parts.key: parallel keys, DIN 6885-1, for shafts over 6 up to 85 mm, with their keyways.
  • Materials. parts.material: the properties of C45, EN AW-6082-T6, CuSn12, PETG, PETG-CF, PA6-CF and Ertalon 6 SA.
