OpenClicky 0.9.0
What's new
- OpenClicky for Windows. A native Windows app for Windows 10 (2004 or later) and 11, x64 and ARM64, contributed by Tan Wei Jie (Justin). Hold Ctrl + Win to ask and the pointer shows you where; hold right Ctrl to dictate. It has the island, the tours, every settings page, skills, offline dictation (Parakeet) and voice (Kokoro). Download
OpenClicky.Windows-win-Setup.exe(x64) or thearm64one below, or go to openclicky.flowsxr.com/download/windows. It is not code-signed yet, so SmartScreen may warn: choose More info, then Run anyway. After that it updates itself. - Skills arrive by pull request. App skills are written as files and reviewed on GitHub. There's a "Request a skill" form for people who'd rather not write one. Drafting a skill inside the app is gone.
Mac
OpenClicky 0.9.0 (build 400, fa50a6d).
Signed with Developer ID and notarized.
Requires macOS 14.2+ (Apple Silicon or Intel). Open the dmg and click Move to Applications when OpenClicky offers. Dictation works offline out of the box; add a Sarvam key under Settings → engine for Indian languages, or type your email during setup for a free openclicky account (polished dictation and spoken answers, no key needed). The agent lane needs the openclicky CLI and Codex installed (see README). Updates arrive through the app (Sparkle, from this release's appcast).
Linux
The .whl below; see OpenClicky on Linux.
OpenClicky 0.8.9
What's new
- Skills now come with the app. The 17 app-teaching skills ship inside OpenClicky, so answers and pointing know the app in front of you from the first question. Before, only a source checkout had them.
- DaVinci Resolve. Ask "where is export?" or "how do I speed up this clip?" with Resolve open, and the pointer walks you through it: the Deliver page or Quick Export, Change Clip Speed, cuts, titles, volume and fades.
- Stopping a guide is obvious now. While a step-by-step guide runs, the notch turns into a stop guide button, and the pointer shows "esc to stop" while it waits for you.
- Right-clicks count. "Right-click the clip" moves the guide on as soon as you right-click.
Mac
OpenClicky 0.8.9 (build 396, 64e6907).

OpenClicky 0.8.8
What's new
OpenClicky now runs on Linux (early). Thanks to @mayaokonkwo (#8): ask about your screen and the pointer points, step-by-step guides, offline dictation and spoken answers, with the same keys and the same ~/.openclicky files as the Mac. X11 only for now (no Wayland). Install the openclicky_linux-0.8.8-py3-none-any.whl below by following OpenClicky on Linux.
Nothing changes in the Mac app itself in this release.
Mac

OpenClicky 0.8.7
What's new in 0.8.7
Clicky rewrites your text in place
- Ask "can you rephrase this?", "make this email sound nicer" or "make this shorter", and Clicky writes the new version straight into your email or document. It rewrites what you've highlighted, or everything in the text box your cursor is in (for example, the email you're writing in Gmail).
- Press ⌘Z to get your own version back. Your original is also kept on the clipboard.
- If you ask a question about the text instead ("what does this word mean?"), Clicky just answers and leaves it alone.
Dictating outside a text box (thanks, Maya!)
- If you start dictating when no text box is selected, the pointer tells you right away: "you're not in a text box. click into one and your words will go there."
- Click into a text box, either while you're still talking or up to 8 seconds after you let go, and your words go there.
Also
- Install with Homebrew:
brew install --cask flowsxr/tap/openclicky.
OpenClicky 0.8.6
What's new in 0.8.6
Step-by-step help
- Ask how to do something on screen ("how do I attach a file in Mail?") and Clicky gives you one step at a time. It points at the step, waits for you to click (or press Return or Tab after typing), looks at your screen again and gives you the next one. Press Esc to stop.
- Clicky never points at a macOS permission or password prompt. Whether to allow something is always your choice.
A one-minute tour of Settings
- Clicky flies around the Settings window, clicks through the main pages and explains what each one is for. It plays once the first time you open Settings. To watch it again, go to General › Settings tour.
The pointer stays out of the way
- After your first few uses, the pointer hides until you shake the mouse. To change this, go to Settings › Clicky › The pointer shows.
Free accounts
- No more daily limit: use your monthly allowance at whatever pace you like.
- The confirmation email now has a 6-digit code to type into OpenClicky, not a link.
- When the free voice runs out, Clicky now speaks in a natural voice instead of the robotic one.
Updates
- Fixed updates failing on macOS 26 with "OpenClicky was prevented from modifying apps". If updating from 0.8.5 or earlier still shows this, either open System Settings › Privacy & Security › App Management and switch OpenClicky on, or download this version and install it from the dmg. Future updates will install normally.
OpenClicky 0.8.5
What's new in 0.8.5
Settings, laid out by what you look for
- Voice has its own page: the language Clicky speaks, the voice it uses (Kokoro, this Mac, or any voice you have a key for), and fast voice.
- Keys & Plans is a new page for your own AI keys and your Claude or ChatGPT plan. You don't need an account for any of it.
- Dictation now holds the key you press, the language, the AI clean-up and the sounds.
- General now has software updates. Keyboard is now called Shortcuts.
- Search also finds your dictionary, snippets, styles and past takes, and shows the closest match first.
India or the rest of the world
- A new Region setting in General. Outside India, it hides Sarvam, the Indian languages and the script choice. It adds English (US/UK), Spanish, French, German, Italian and Portuguese for dictation.
- It starts from your Mac's region, and anything you already use stays visible.
Smaller fixes
- "Free allowance" no longer says Loading… forever when you aren't signed in.
- Showing the pointer with a shake now takes a more deliberate shake.
- Cleaner wording throughout.
OpenClicky 0.8.4
What's new in 0.8.4
Shaped by the first real user's feedback.
Voices
- Pick any voice you have a key for: OpenAI, ElevenLabs, Google Cloud, Amazon Polly, Sarvam, Gemini, or this Mac's own voice.
- Kokoro, a free natural voice that runs on this Mac. Its engine ships inside the app, and the 350 MB voice model downloads on its own after setup. It loads only around a conversation.
- When the free voice runs out, OpenClicky switches to a slower, clearer system voice.
Dictation
- Older Macs (before macOS 26) now keep every sentence. Before, a take with several sentences pasted only the last one.
- Parakeet, an accurate offline engine for Macs before macOS 26. It downloads on its own after setup and hears 25 European languages.
- Clean-up works with any AI key you've added (Groq, Gemini, Mistral, OpenRouter, xAI), and with Apple Intelligence on Macs that have it.
- Spoken numbers are written as digits ("three hundred and twenty five" becomes 325).
Clicky
- Shorter answers, and a lower island.
- Clicking Settings in the island opens the full Settings window.
- After a few uses, OpenClicky offers to open at login.
Settings
- One sidebar: General, Dictation, Clicky, Your words, How it writes, The Orb, Keyboard, Privacy & Security, Account, About.
- "Your words" merges recording and history. "How it writes" holds the dictionary, snippets and styles.
Plus a large internal quality pass.
OpenClicky 0.8.3
What's new
- Pick who answers. Add keys for OpenAI, Anthropic, OpenRouter, Google Gemini, Groq, Mistral or xAI, or answer with the Claude Code or Codex (ChatGPT) plan you already pay for. Settings → Clicky → "Answers come from".
- Keys as a list. Settings → Account shows the keys you've added, with an "Add a key" menu. Every key and plan has a Test button that asks it one quick question and tells you whether it worked.
- See who's answering. While Clicky speaks, the island says who answered, e.g. "speaking · Claude Code".
- Click to stop. While Clicky speaks, the island is a stop button. Moving the mouse past it no longer opens the panel.
- Choose the voice. The cloud voice (ElevenLabs on the free credits, with what's left of the allowance) or this Mac's own voice, free and offline. The Premium voices macOS can download sound much better.
- Quick actions everywhere. Opening apps and websites, making folders, volume and playback now work on your own keys and on the Claude Code and Codex plans, with no agent tool installed.
- Dictation types straight in by default. AI clean-up starts off and can be switched on under Styles.
- Accessibility is asked for first so the pointer can show, there's a drag helper for Screen Recording, and the Agents tab explains plainly when its tool isn't installed.

OpenClicky 0.8.1
OpenClicky 0.8.1 (build 285, adcbb07).
Signed with Developer ID and notarized. Requires macOS 14.2+ (Apple Silicon or Intel).
Your own keys come first
OpenClicky is free and open: put your own OpenAI key (and optionally Anthropic, Sarvam) in ~/.openclicky/shell.json and every model call goes straight to that vendor — no account, no OpenClicky server, no limits. The hosted backend and free email accounts are only for people without keys. Realtime voice, transcription, spoken answers, clean-up and skill drafting run on an OpenAI key; the Claude features on an Anthropic key. (#4)
Fixed
- Realtime voice no longer drops straight after connecting: nothing is sent until OpenAI has accepted the session. (#1)
- A chosen microphone now reaches realtime voice and hands-free; "mac default" takes effect without a relaunch.
- Two pointer tags in one answer no longer crash the app.
- Live typing stays out of terminals (no more letters sent to
lessor vim); a paste lands only where the key went down. - A new ⌃⌥ question stops the old answer, its voice and its pointer outright.
- Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, Japanese and Chinese answers start speaking early and are never cut off.
- Right ⌃ / ⌥ / ⌘ as the dictation key no longer collide with the companion's shortcuts.
- A settings file with one mistake in it is never overwritten; a dead sign-in signs out and says so.
- Plus the rest of an independent 47-finding test pass: captions, logging, history, layout at small window sizes.
Open the dmg and click Move to Applications when OpenClicky offers. Updates arrive through the app.
