v0.44.4
Release Notes — v0.44.4
Patch: Your logs can reach us, when you ask them to
Ogcode can now forward its log records to PostHog Logs, so a crash or an error
on your machine is visible to the maintainers without you first having to
reproduce it in an issue.
It is off until you turn it on. Set OGCODE_POSTHOG_LOGS=1 and records at or
above OGCODE_POSTHOG_LOGS_LEVEL (default warn) are shipped; DO_NOT_TRACK
switches it off no matter what the flag says. Secrets are redacted before
anything leaves the process, so a key that appears in a log line is written as
[REDACTED]. The deployment guide documents both variables.
Other changes
- When the console output is piped rather than a terminal — under a container,
in a service unit — it is now JSON with the timestamp kept, so a collector can
parse it. On a terminal it stays the terse text you read. - The access log now records client errors: a 4xx logs at Info, and a 401, 403
or 429 logs at Warn, so a default log still shows what a caller got wrong. - Setting
OGCODE_LOG_LEVEL=offno longer creates a log file at all. - A log setting that is present but unparseable — a typo in a level or a size —
now warns once instead of being silently ignored. - The startup line names the host the server runs on.
