4.10.9
Features
Obscure tracks
Hide sensitive parts of a video with a mosaic, blur, or blackout box. In the video editor, select Obscure, drag and resize the box in the preview, then choose an effect under Mode and adjust Strength. Tracks above the Obscure track remain visible, so reorder tracks to control what is hidden.
4.10.6
Features
Zoom instant screenshots
Draw on Instant Screenshot captures only the monitor under the pointer and lets you zoom its frozen image while annotations stay fixed on screen. This makes small details easier to mark.
- On Draw on Screen, set Initial zoom from 100% to 1600%.
- On Hotkeys, assign and use Draw on Instant Screenshot, then scroll the mouse wheel to zoom around the pointer.
Minor Changes
- Assigning a shortcut already used by another action on Hotkeys moves it to the new action and clears the old assignment.
Bugs Fixed
- The Draw on Screen toolbar no longer stays active after keyboard focus moves to another app on Windows.
- Objects no longer jump or become mirrored when resized from a corner while holding Shift.
4.10.0
Features
Drawing tool defaults
Set the saved color, fill, line width, font, and other styles for each image editor drawing tool, with controls to reset individual settings, one tool, or every tool. Open Editor & Sessions and use Tool defaults, or choose Edit Tool Defaults from the image editor's toolbar menu.
Minor Changes
- Settings now place system options under System, editor options under Editor & Sessions, update controls under About, and file manager upload integration under Uploads.
- Existing Layout, Toolbar overflow, and Capture media keys in video editor choices reset to their defaults as those options move to Editor & Sessions.
- The sidebar shows Permission Needed when macOS permissions are missing and Update Available when an update is ready.
- Recording, Shared Region, Draw on Screen, and Uploads show their active mode in a status banner with compact controls for switching modes.
- On Windows, the OK button in the Share this window prompt uses the chosen Accent color.
4.9.29
Features
Live keystroke overlay
Draw on Screen can show pressed keys over the desktop for presentations and recordings. Open Draw on Screen, click Show keystrokes, then customize Screen region, Filter, Size, Linger, and animation on the Draw on Screen settings page. Turning the feature Off on that page removes its tray item, hotkey, and drawing buttons from recording and sharing toolbars.
Draw on Instant Screenshot
Freeze every monitor at the current moment and annotate the still image without the underlying apps changing. On the Hotkeys page, assign Draw on Instant Screenshot, then press that shortcut whenever you need a frozen canvas.
Step numbers and drawing shortcuts
Annotate walkthroughs faster with numbered badges and toolbar shortcuts. Select Step Count or press C, then click to place the next number or drag to add an arrow. While Draw on Screen has keyboard focus, letter hints select tools, 1 to 4 select sizes, and Shift+1 to Shift+8 select colors.
Capture visibility controls
Choose which parts of Clowd stay out of screenshots, recordings, and screen shares. In General, set Hide Clowd windows from screen capture to Hide none, Tooltips, Toolbars, or All windows. The default is Tooltips; for existing users, the Draw on Screen toolbar is no longer hidden by default, so choose Toolbars or All windows to keep it out.
Locked editor items
Protect image editor items from being moved, resized, or erased. Right-click a selected item and choose Lock; right-click it again and choose Unlock when you need to edit it.
Minor Changes
- Draw on Screen remembers the last selected color and size for the next session.
- Options appears on the recording toolbar only in Instant mode.
- The image editor stays usable and on screen when opening very small captures.
Bugs Fixed
- Image crop mode no longer ignores Enter or Esc; Enter applies the crop and Esc cancels it.
- Alt+Space no longer does nothing on Windows; it opens the current window's system menu.
- Dialogs and file pickers opened from the tray or global hotkeys no longer appear behind other apps or fail to come forward.
4.9.13
Features
Image editor zoom controls
The image editor's top-bar Zoom field is now a floating control over the canvas, with Zoom out, Zoom presets, Zoom in, and Zoom to fit content. Click the percentage to choose a preset. Keyboard shortcuts use Ctrl on Windows or Cmd on macOS: = zooms in, - zooms out, and 0 fits the content.
macOS app menu
The macOS app menu now provides direct access to About Clowd, Recents & Uploads, and Settings…. The keyboard shortcut for Settings… is Cmd+comma.
Minor Changes
- Select in Draw on Screen uses a clearer dotted-selection icon instead of a move icon.
4.9.10
No user facing changes in this build.
4.9.8
Features
Draw while recording or sharing
Recording and shared-region toolbars now include Draw on Screen, so you can annotate without leaving the active session. Select Draw on Screen on either toolbar to open the drawing controls or bring an existing drawing session forward.
Asymmetric line and arrow curves
Curved Line and Arrow annotations can now lean toward either endpoint instead of always bending around the center. Select the annotation and drag its middle handle sideways to shape an asymmetric curve, or hold Shift while dragging for a centered bend in repeatable increments.
Minor Changes
- Holding Shift with Line, Arrow, Measure, Pen, and Step Count now snaps to 15 degree increments instead of 45 degree increments.
- The Brush cursor ring now gives a more accurate preview of a typical stroke width.
- An accent animation briefly outlines recording, shared-region, and Draw on Screen toolbars when they open, making them easier to locate.
Bugs Fixed
- Brush and Highlighter strokes no longer show a moving selection border while you are still drawing.
- On macOS, image and video editor window controls now align with the top toolbar, including after resizing and fullscreen changes.
4.9.0
Features
Draw on Screen
Draw over every display with brush, shapes, arrows, text, eraser, and selection tools. Open Draw on Screen from the tray menu or assign its hotkey in settings; Click through lets you use apps underneath, and Hide drawing temporarily hides the ink.
Reusable object styles
Reuse a selected object's appearance across matching objects or future drawings. Select one object and open Apply or save this style, then apply it to existing objects, remember it for this window, or make it the default everywhere.
Calibrated measurements
Measure lines can show real-world units using one calibration shared by every measure on the canvas. Select a measure, click Set measure units, enter Length and Unit (e.g. ft), then click Save; Reset returns the canvas to pixels.
Video timeline gap tools
Video and audio timeline gaps show their duration and provide tools for closing or filling empty space. Right-click a gap or click its duration badge, then choose an available action such as Close Gap, Ripple Close Gap (All Tracks), Rejoin Clips (Undo Cut), or Paste after using Copy on a clip.
Single-lane editor toolbars
Keep image and video editor toolbars to one column, with overflowed tools under More tools. Set Toolbar overflow to Hide in General settings or choose Overflow in Customize toolbar; the last overflow tool you pick stays on the toolbar.
Minor Changes
- New text cycles through pastel fills and slight rotations when Auto is enabled.
- The Pen tool previews and inserts anchors on existing paths, snaps closed paths to their first anchor, and returns to Selection when finished.
- Restore sessions on startup now reopens video editors after an update restart or computer shutdown.
- New zoom effects reuse an existing non-overlapping zoom track instead of always adding another timeline row.
- Changing zoom keeps the viewport center in place, and Reset zoom keeps the current area visible when possible.
- Drawing editor shadows render faster, especially on complex canvases.
- The sticky note size control is now labeled Scale; measure labels also use it and render larger by default.
Bugs Fixed
- Text on transparent backgrounds no longer appears jumbled.
- Tooltips no longer flicker when moving between toolbar buttons.
4.8.22
Features
Pen and Brush
Pen (P) replaces Pencil with editable straight and curved paths, while Brush (B) creates smooth freehand strokes that taper naturally. Existing pencil drawings still open and render.
- Pen: Click for corners, drag for curves, click the first point to close a path, or press Enter to finish. Click either end of an existing path to continue it.
- Brush: Drag to paint, then use Stroke to set the width.
Sticky notes and plain text
Sticky Note (N) adds colored notes that wrap text and grow as needed, while Text (T) now creates plain text by default. Use Color for the letters and Fill for an optional background; the previous Auto control is removed.
Step Count arrows
Step Count (C) creates a numbered badge and optional arrow as one object. Click to place the next number, drag while placing to pull out an arrow, or drag either handle on an existing badge to add or adjust its arrow. The shortcut changes from N to C because N now selects Sticky Note.
Animated tool guidance
Hover over any image editor tool to see its shortcut, usage instructions, and an animated preview.
Minor Changes
- Saved Tool preferences and Customize toolbar layouts reset once; most tools now use 3 px strokes, Brush uses 6 px, Text uses 16 pt Inter, and outlined rectangles start rounded.
- With Selection, objects show an outline on hover so it is clear what a click will select.
- The Layers panel supports Shift-click ranges, preserves Ctrl-selected items, and clears the selection when you click empty space.
Bugs Fixed
- Recent previews no longer stay stale while an edited capture remains open.
- Long text in the Layers panel no longer runs underneath the row buttons.
4.8.8
Features
MKV video exports
Rendered videos can use the MKV container, and the selected format is remembered for future renders and saved presets. In the video editor, open Render, choose More options…, select MKV under Container, then click Render.
Copy videos from Recent
Recordings, converted GIFs, and rendered videos can be copied to the clipboard as files. On Recent, hover over a video and click Copy to clipboard.
Minor Changes
- Filename pattern uses Gregorian dates, English month and day names, and literal separators in every region.
- Number fields across settings and dialogs respond to the mouse wheel when hovered.
- Parent windows dim while modal dialogs are open.
Bugs Fixed
- In regions that use a comma as the decimal separator, resetting Center X or Center Y no longer moves the selected video item to 100%.
- Copy RGB and Copy HSL produce valid clipboard text for transparent colors in regions that use a comma as the decimal separator.
- Camera names and media file locations containing accented or non-English characters no longer become corrupted during camera detection and media processing.
- Uploads with uppercase extensions no longer use the wrong file type in Turkish regions.
