Releases: prismio-lang/prismio
Release list
v0.1.0
First release of Prismio: a compiled, statically typed language where the compiler decides how memory is managed. No garbage collector, no free, no lifetime annotations. The compiler is written in Prismio and builds itself to a byte-identical fixpoint.
Highlights
- Smaller compiler: three LLVM backends (AArch64, X86, WebAssembly) instead of 25, about half the size.
- Constant array globals:
let words = ["alpha", "beta"]is read-only data. print/printlntake anything printable,Option<T>included;std.termstyles any printable value.- Shorter input:
readLineOr,prompt,readInt,readFloat,readLines,readWords,isAtEnd. - Faster to compile: self-build IR emit 1.4 s to 0.7 s, identical output.
- Fixed: a function ending in
panic, unreachableorexitwhile owning a value emitted invalid IR.
Performance
On 62 workloads (Apple M5, 5 runs): geometric mean 0.87× of C++ and 0.84× of Rust, with peak memory level with C++ and 4% below Rust.
Install
macOS and Linux: curl -fsSL https://prismio.org/install.sh | sh
Windows: unpack the .zip and put bin on PATH.
Archives are named prismio-0.1.0-[os]-[arch] and each has a .sha256. They are not signed, so check the checksum from this page. You also need your platform's C tools to link programs (Xcode Command Line Tools, build-essential, or Visual Studio Build Tools).
