proPDF 1.4.0
- Email opens in your default mail app on Windows (Settings → Apps →
Default apps). If that's the new Outlook, the PDF arrives there as a
draft to address and send; it used to go to classic Outlook whenever that
was installed, and not to the new Outlook at all. - Help → Feedback sends ProAdvance a message: what works, what doesn't, or
what you'd like proPDF to do, with an address for a reply if you'd like
one. Your proPDF version and system go with it, so there's no need to
include them.
proPDF 1.3.1
- A new icon: a page with its corner folded down, shaped into a "p". You'll
see it on your desktop, taskbar or Dock, on the welcome screen, on the File
tab and in About proPDF.
proPDF 1.3.0
- Tabs: opening a PDF while another is open puts it in a tab of its own,
under the ribbon, instead of closing the one you had. Each tab keeps its
document, its undo history and your place in it. Switch with a click or
Ctrl+Tab, close one with its × (it asks first if you have unsaved
changes), and open an empty one with +.
proPDF 1.2.3
- Highlight, Underline and Strikeout mark text in the colour you pick from
their palette. A colour picked once the tool was chosen (holding its
button chooses it, then shows the colours) was ignored, and the text came
out in the tool's first colour. Sticky notes, shapes and arrows weren't
affected. - Typing in a form field no longer makes the page flash black. A moment
after you stop typing, the page is drawn again with what you typed; it now
stays on screen until the new drawing is ready to take its place.
proPDF 1.2.2
- Protect → Set Password warns when a password is shorter than 12
characters: anyone with the file can try passwords as fast as their
computer allows, and a short one doesn't hold out for long. It's a
warning, so a short password can still be set. - New digital IDs have 3072-bit keys, strong enough for the five years an ID
lasts. IDs you already have keep working. - A cancelled licence, or a computer taken off one, turns proPDF read-only
only when ProAdvance's licence server itself says so: the server now signs
that answer, and proPDF checks the signature.
proPDF 1.2.1
- The trial is kept with ProAdvance's licence server as well as on your
computer. During its 14 days, proPDF lets the server know it's running,
identifying the computer only by a scrambled form (a hash) of its own id.
It counts the days from the first time the server heard from that
computer. Reinstalling proPDF or removing its settings doesn't start the
trial again. Copies already in their trial keep the days they have.
proPDF 1.2.0
proPDF now needs a licence key:
- It works in full for 14 days, counted from when this update installs.
After that it still opens, reads, searches and prints PDFs, and editing,
saving and the rest need a licence key from ProAdvance IT Services. The
title bar shows how many days are left. - Help → Licence activates your key on this computer, which needs the
internet once. It shows who proPDF is licensed to, and Deactivate frees
the computer's place on the licence, to move proPDF to another computer. - Once activated, proPDF checks its licence now and then, and keeps working
for 30 days without the internet. - The name is now spelt proPDF. Your settings stay as they were.
Fixes:
- A digital signature's reason, location or contact details can hold
brackets, backslashes and any language's letters. Before, a reason such as
"Approved :)" made a signature other readers couldn't read. - Emailing a PDF names the attachment with letters, digits, spaces and
. _ - ( ) only, so a crafted file name can't add recipients on Linux.
ProPDF 1.1.2
Security fixes, from a review of ProPDF:
- Links only ever open web and email addresses. A crafted address on a page
or in a QR code can no longer turn a link into a script that runs in other
PDF readers. - Pages added from a password-protected PDF stay protected: a document
without a password takes that file's password, and ProPDF says so. Saving
a protected PDF keeps its limits on printing, changes and copying, not just
its password. - The Digital Signature window says when the signed copy is saved without
the document's password. - New digital IDs need a password of at least 12 characters, are far harder
to crack if someone copies the file, and are saved so only you can read
them. Digital IDs you already have work as before. - On Linux, ProPDF installs an update only if it carries ProPDF's own
signature. - ProPDF reads only the PDFs you open or drop on it, never asks for your
camera, microphone, location or notifications, and can't be made to load
another page or run other code by changing how it's started. - Built on Electron 44.9.1, which refuses more untrustworthy security
certificates.
ProPDF 1.1.1
- About ProPDF shows who makes it: the ProAdvance IT Services logo, in
colours to suit the light or dark theme.
ProPDF 1.1.0
- Redact: remove names, account numbers or anything else from a PDF for
good, rather than covering them. Mark areas with the Redact tool (Home →
Protect), or use Find and Redact to mark every place some text appears.
When the file is saved, printed or shared, everything under the marks is
removed: text, pictures, form fields and comments. A redacted page is kept
as a picture, and its other text can still be searched. - Page Marks (Organize tab): add a watermark, a header and a footer, with
page numbers, the date or Bates numbers, to every page or the pages you
choose. - Find frames what it finds more closely in text with narrow and wide letters.
