Allow lombok to support building against JDK 24.

Describe the target audience

While JDK 24 is still in EA mode as of this writing, there are EA builds available nonetheless that one can use for experimentation and preparation against the next JDK release.

Additional context

Lombok likely requires a new version of the lombok patcher to support the new Opcodes.V24 constant for Java 24.

JDK 24 is now in RampDown phase. This means that it's safe to get this finalized.

It would be really great if Lombok is, for the first time, compatible with the new JDK before its release date.

ASM is already compatible.

Rampdown doesn't mean that there are no breaking changes in the compiler. As far as I know we only have to adjust one small thing besides the mandatory ASM update.

While technically it could be broken, but only for "extraordinary" issues.
I would say my statement above is correct, that it's safe for Lombok to finalize JDK 24 features.

NetBeans 25-RC2 is out now and people are already complaining, that lombok usage breaks the IDE. Reason is, that NetBeans uses the javac from JDK24. At least an RC/beta/intermediate fix would be good to unbreak peoples IDEs.

You can try the version from my jdk24 branch but that propably requires to many steps to be a real solution. (Edit: that jar doesn't work) I will ask Reinier and Roel if we can publish a new edge version soon.

I build d9d0767 from https://github.com/Rawi01/lombok/commits/jdk24 resulting in lombok-1.18.17+d9d0767b.zip

With that at least most basic usage worked. I only tested @DaTa annotation, as I only have lombok in legacy work projects, not accessible currently). For anyone using maven I suggest to make the lombok version overrideable in your projects:

1. Install the binary after expanding the zip:

mvn org.apache.maven.plugins:maven-install-plugin:3.1.3:install-file\
  -Dfile=lombok.jar\
  -DgroupId=org.projectlombok\
  -DartifactId=lombok\
  -Dversion=1.18.36+d9d0767b\
  -Dpackaging=jar

2. define a property lombok.version and set that to any version you deem right:

    <properties>
        <lombok.version>1.18.36</lombok.version>
    </properties>

3. Declare your dependency with that property (apply to annotationProcessorPaths also, if you use it there)

    <dependencies>
        <dependency>
            <groupId>org.projectlombok</groupId>
            <artifactId>lombok</artifactId>
            <version>${lombok.version}</version>
        </dependency>
    </dependencies>

4. Override that property for your user via $HOME/.m2/settings.xml:

        <profile>
            <id>lombok-fixing</id>
            <activation>
                <activeByDefault>true</activeByDefault>
            </activation>
            <properties>
                <lombok.version>1.18.36+d9d0767b</lombok.version>
            </properties>
        </profile>

This way you can switch lombok version centrally and don't interfere with other users. You'll still need to update each project, but at least in between releases or if updating the dependency is probibited for some reason, you can still work.

Can we get an "official" release? Or at least something (beta?) on Maven central?
JDK 24 is about to be released this month, I would love a release of Lombok on / before JDK release date.
