We just did a presentation on how pressuring FOSS projects leads to serious security issues.

You need to cut this kind of behaviour out. Your feature request sounds like a negative performance review. Literally, "wow, you guys really messed up by being 1 week late on JDK24 support, next time, do better".

I understand it's from a sense of excitement and care for lombok as a concept, but, that just means the social pressure aspect is worse, not better.

Do not put undue pressure on FOSS maintainers with aggressively entitled crap like this feature request. Contribute something more than 'it is important', 'I really want this', or stating the exceedingly obvious, such as that ASM tends to be ahead of the curve. Especially when what you're stating is incomplete and misleading (ASM might well be compatible with 25's current EA release, but 25 is not set in stone, and it could introduce more features later on).

You're on notice. Any more entitled pressure from you will lead to a permanent ban.

I'm going to close this issue. It's not something we're going to forget, and having a place to discuss the steps required to add JDK25 support is not currently all that important, especially if it starts on such a bad page like this has.

@lprimak , I see you're trying not to pressure is, and created this issue already including an explanation on why it is important.

In this case, we know it is important and we will have pre-releases already available soon.

I don't know what the right balance is between being helpful in case we forget or might not be aware of something on one hand, and add pleasure where we're already aware on the other hand.

JDK 25 is in Ramp-down Phase 1. I am really hoping this time Lombok can be available before the "official" release date of the JDK.

I started to work on it, there are some minor changes but so far nothing that seems to be complex.

We are using lombok a lot,
and we need to evaluate Java 25 (GraalVM 25) as soon as possible.
so lombok is a bit of a blocker for that right now.
Any early snapshot will help, it does not have to be perfect. :-)

@Rawi01 did a lot of the work. @rspilker and I went through every JEP in the official JDK25 list and double checked that lombok deals with it. We had to make 2 tiny updates to the pretty printer to deal with some language-impacting experimental features, specifically implicit classes and module imports.

feature freeze is already in effect and first release candidate is scheduled for Aug 8th, so I think we're GTG. We'll push this release out the door ASAP so that lombok-latest is compatible with JDK25 well before its official release.

I used the edge-release on one of our main projects (about 800 classes, more than 1000 UnitTests, SpringBoot & Spring Web MVC)
No issus on compiling, all tests green, application is running.
I did not much testing yet, but i really don't expect problems.

Success! Now I can say that Lombok is already compatible with JDK 25 - first time in history that happened before JDK release.
Yet another weapon taken away from the detractors.
